This winter has been uncomfortably cold for Hyderabad. Interestingly, prior to the cold was the season of allergy when almost everyone was or still is suffering from cold and cough and flu and what not. Changing seasons are hard on the body, especially when your immune system is not at its best. But, did you know that your house is making you sick?

The dust mites, mold, cockroaches and pollens could be the foremost reasons for your headaches, congestion, sinus and even mental health. The interesting part is that these culprits continue staying in your house making you sick long after the allergy season is over. The situation can worsen to trigger allergic asthma.

Usually, in these situations there is not much you can really do except trying to eliminate the dust mites, mold and pollen from your house as much as possible or prevent their entry. Beware that these miscreants can enter your house along with you, your clothes, footwear and even the windows.

6 Ways Your House is Making You Sick

Letting the Dust Accumulate

Let me start with describing my own home. We get a lot of dust owing to the fact that the area is undergoing lot of construction and the main road traffic. And, yours truly has lately been guilty of not dusting regularly which leads to a good amount of dust accumulation.

Always start dusting with a wet cloth to avoid moving the dust or spreading it into the air.

How I Started to Build New Habits using 4 Basic Dog Training Principles?

Some people come with an amazing amount of will power and discipline. They do not seem to have any trouble following a rigorous routine to build new habits. Others, like myself, need a lot more motivation and perseverance to stick to new changes.

Table of Contents

  • How did Dog Training Principles help in Building New Habits?
    • Dog Training Principle #1 – Work on a Single Command at a time
    • Dog Training Principle #2 – Train for a very Short Period
    • Dog Training Principle #3 – Teach Foundations First
    • Dog Training Principle #4 – Be Consistent and Track your Progress
    • Dog Training Principle #5 – Take a Step Back When Required
  • Summarizing the Framework
  • How long have I followed this framework?

I have been suffering with severe neck pain which radiates into the head and causes severe nausea for the past 3-4 years. It started during the lockdown when I would spend hours hunching over my laptop. Neck and shoulder exercises look to be the obvious solution.

However, over the years instead of healing myself, I had convinced myself that exercise can not heal the pain and I had prepared myself for perpetual pain. Finally last November due to some twist of fate, I realized my own lack of awareness was the hindrance. What I really needed was to take charge of my health and direct my action towards it.

Now, that first step was clear, the next hurdle was how to build the habit of exercising and stick to it consistently. In the past, I have often exercised enthusiastically for a few days and discontinued and doing the same would not have helped me. I needed to look at building the new habit from a different approach, something which sticks and adapts as part of my lifestyle.

It’s the realization that taking the same approach you have been following for years will NOT work; that realization sparks the CHANGE.

Life with my Reactive Dog – February 2024

reactive dog, hauz khas deer park, pet friendly places delhi

We are in the third month of the year and I have to say I have never experienced spring the way I am doing this year with Sky. Incidentally, though she is a reactive dog, she is doing well this time around. We love the weather and and we have spending time outdoors whenever we get a breather.

This month has been really adventurous for us but fun. Sky has been doing well with her reactivity. Weather change always triggers reactions and I guess the fun on weekends are turning to barks in the weekdays!!

The routines are still same, timings have changed owing to the spring. We have started getting up early and another major change is dividing her meal into 3 portions instead of two. Not sure if this has brought any big change with respect to reactivity but seems like it keeps her tummy calmer.

So, What all did we do in February?
