How often do you change your bedsheets or pillow covers? {Your Opinion}

Swathy · January 1, 2013 · 32 Comments

My answer to the question is preferably once in a week at least. But, my mom changes the entire bed linen every three days diligently!! I make it a weekly excuse saying I live alone but I do pass on for a month or two sometimes as well.
This ensures hygiene for one. If you have oily and acne prone skin, using same pillow everyday might result in breakouts so changing the pillow covers once in two days might help with controlling the breakouts. And, also, for hair, clean bed covers help to control dandruff and keep oily hair clean.
Also, if you might have noticed, the day you spread freshly washed bed linen, you get a good night’s sleep. You feel fresh when you get into the bed. Also, the room looks dirty and unclean if the linen has not been changed for long.
Oh and if you are down, you have to for sure change them after you are UP 😀 So, its a good practice to get the bed clothes washed at least twice a week. That’s on my next to-do list 🙂
So, how often do you change the covers?

Should you do exercise when mensturating? {Women Stuff}

Swathy · December 18, 2012 · 20 Comments

Ok, I would like to be convinced why we should not exercise if we are menstruating. I did a google search on this topic and I found no particular link saying you should really rest IF you do not suffer from major cramps or heavy bleeding.
Caution: This is only for those who do not have heavy bleeding or suffer badly during those days of the month!! Please do not exercise if you have heavy PMS or mensuration. All you can do is walk in such a case.

So, I do not really suffer from major issues during this time of the month. My blood flow is normal and I generally do not have anything major than leg pains and heavy feeling in the lower part of the body but that settles down if I rest properly.

When I did a google search, all I found was that you can walk, jog, run and even do Yoga during these days except for some of the inverted poses in the Yoga and even swim. Pranayam is specifically recommended for relaxation. Also, one can do Suryanamaskar or stretches or such exercises which do not involves stomach strains or back strain.
But, still, when I went for my Yoga classes (yup, will write about them) today, my acquaintances said I should only rest for the first three days. Now, you would obviously be interested in knowing how I managed an hour of the class.
Honestly, it wasn’t too bad. Some of the exercises I totally avoided because it was straining my back but I did do many Suranamaskars and other easy ones which were mostly stretches today. And, afterward, I was feeling pretty good. And, I didn’t really push myself more.
My legs weren’t heavy anymore. And, this is till now. I would check till tomorrow and let you know if I did really suffer anything major after having a good/bad night sleep 🙂 And, please do convince me if I should really avoid exercising altogether keeping in mind my state of periods.
Any doctor’s opinion would be welcome 🙂 And, am I relying on internet more than necessary?

Do you like Dark Chocolates? {Your Opinion}

Swathy · November 18, 2012 · 12 Comments

Yummyyyyyy!!! I have to confess. I have soooooooooooooo much craving for sweets these days and not the normal sweets like pastries and brownies and cakes and all but the pure Indian ones which are totally smacking of Desi Ghee 😀 Jalebis, Rasmalai, Halwa, Gajar ka Halwa, Kaju Barfi……..yumm!!

I am missing them and my mouth is already watering…ummmm 😀 Anyways. lets come back to today’s topic. So, do you like dark chocolates. You already know my answer. The first word of the post. But, let me talk about how I started liking them. Now, dark chocolates are an acquired taste.

So, once, someone told me that you are not supposed to eat it all at once. Its supposed to be relished everyday a tiny bit. Then, my Europe trip happened and I went to Switzerland from where I got wine dark chocolates and loads of others.
In fact, one I got had 72% cocoa and trust me when I say IT WAS VERY DARK!! And, the more darker the chocolate, more bitter it is. And, if you like sugary sweet things, be prepared to gag for the first time you put it in your mouth. But, once you start flavouring it bit by bit everyday, you are on your way to love Dark Chocolates.
And, that’s my success to loving one of the best things in life 🙂 And, do you know that cocoa has lot of anti-oxidants and are a great anti-aging treatment as well??? Yup, see, chocolates are not so bad after all!! And, so, do you like Indian sweets or the dark chocolates or the usual pastry and brownie stuff???
