How to take care of your post coloured dry hair? – My Hair Diary

cysteine infusion reviews and hair color
My Red Hair – way back in August

It has been 6 months since I got my dry hair coloured. The reds are the worst as they fade the fastest. That is how Katrina Kaif managed to spend 55L on the Chinar-esque shade she got which I absolutely fell in love with. My red lasted for 3 months and since then my hair is chocolate brown which is not too bad if I can say so.

In the long run, I can also claim that my dry hair is doing pretty well after the intensive chemical treatment it went through. But, yes, the post coloured dry hair care is an intensive process. You can  let it go for even a week. I do slip off quite a many times and make up for it by getting a hair spa! Anyways, let me share what I did and did not do which you should do.

My hair NOW – feels extremely soft, the color is of course weird and growth is not uniform either. Hope the shorter layers will grow soon enough. You can also see the difference between cysteine treated and freshly coloured hair vs regular hair.

Shampoo less but not too Less

I have noticed in the past one year that my hair behaves best when washed on alternate days. The more I go without washing, more hair falls. Find out the optimum time your hair behaves well without shampoo and stick to that. Two should be good if you have normal hair but three is good for both oily and dry hair.

How to talk to your daughter about her first period?

How to talk to your daughter about her first period?

The first period is a sacred rite. In south India, families celebrate this passage into maturity with much pomp. But, does the girl really understand what is happening to her and what it signifies?

Twenty years back, my friend introduced me into the mysteries of womanhood. She used to share the whispers she had heard among her adult cousins. We were too young to understand what all it meant and as a result not ready for the change awaiting us.

None of our mothers had talked to us. On the contrary, my mother was herself embarrassed to talk to me. First time it happened, I discussed with my friends and after three days talked to my mom. She had not known how to broach the topic.

Times have changed since then. Lot more information is available and society itself has woken up to awareness regarding such issues. I am sure teenagers today do not find it as difficult to talk about taboos with their mothers now.

But, if you are still shy and do not know how to talk to your daughter about her first period, here are some pointers which might help you prepare for the interview.

Right Age to Talk

The kids are growing faster these days. The average age for the onset of menstruation has dropped from 12 to anywhere between 8 and 13. No doubt it is hard decide when it would be a good time to talk provided they are also too young to understand what it signifies. And, no butterflies stories either!

My Agatha Christie Collection

After finishing two books in the very first week of the year, my entire month was spent in considerable reading pleasure. Most of them were Agatha Christie books.

I had binged shopped around 25-30 books at Crossword earlier in January so I was chewing up on those very books. I got a few for my Agatha Christie book collection though the best of the books were missing in the book store.

Anyways, let us checkout what all I enjoyed this month.

Crooked House (Read it here)

‘Goodbye, dear,’ she said. ‘Don’t worry too much. Certain things have to be faced and endured.

This is the best of Agatha Chrstie books. Not withstanding her own masterpiece The Murder of Roger Ackroyd. Beautiful characters and amazing plot. Subtle and simple.
