4 Reasons to skip Scrubbing in Skin Care Routine

Swathy · June 19, 2015 · 4 Comments

sugar scrub

Long long back, I remember reading a comment on my blog about how a reader uses olive oil + sugar every single day to keep her skin soft. Well, as much as I love sugar or salt for scrubbing, I would love to say it is not for everyday. Exfoliating everyday harms the skin in the long run. In fact, recently, I came across an article which claims that it is better to skip exfoliation altogether as a skin care step. And, then, I thought it might be a good idea to look at the reason why we should do so.

I’m not crazy about scrubs because clients abuse them,” says Czech. “They go crazy with them and it results in tons of broken capillaries. If you just use a cleanser and washcloth to wash your face every night, that’s enough exfoliation. (Source)
If you have been lately feeling that your skin is not doing well even after a lot of your efforts, the answer might be that you are just doing too much. So, let us see why exfoliation can be an unnecessary step for some.

#1. Easy to go Overboard with it!

Once upon a time when I had done some post on skin care, one of the readers had mentioned that she scrubs her skin everyday with oil+sugar. When I told her that it might be a tad too much, she said she loved how soft her skin felt.

But, my personal opinion about the practice since then has always been that it is very easy to go overboard. It is easy to love the feel of the skin and do it everyday in quest of the same result. It is important to remember at such a time that everything in excess is harmful.

Nutrova Collagen + Anti-Oxidant Nutritional Supplement – The Dosage Instructions!

Nutrova Collagen + Anti-Oxidants Product Review Ingredient List

When I reviewed the Nutrova Collagen + Anti-Oxidant Nutritional Supplement, Jyothi shared a few concerns about how long should the product be taken.

Hi Swati, thanks for this update. Seems like a good product, the only concern i have is how long i need to take this, as you already mentioned, it is damn expensive, a couple of months is okay. But if it needs to be taken for a long time, it will make a dent in our budgets. Also once i stop, will the skin still have the positive effects or will it go worse than what it is now. This is always my biggest worry in taking any kind of supplements. What do you think? — Jyothi

To which I replied

hey Jyothi. sorry for replying so late! you are asking the correct question and the only answer to such a query is that generally it has to be taken life long. and, yes, it does make a dent in the budget. the only thing i can say is that you can take the product once in 2-3 days depending on how your skin reacts to it and then once one entire packet is consumed (30 sachets), a gap of one month is must so that the body does not get used to the product and will continue to show the same results. The same thing is followed for any kind of a supplement. so, I can say it would be probably 3-4 packets a year which means almost 10-11k per year. but, yes, it is huge!! no doubt.

When Akshay, the founder of Nutrova, went through my reply to Jyothi, he pointed out few incorrect statements I had made. So, to clarify, I would like to mention what Akshay says about the product dosage and how should the product be taken!

While going through the posts, I noticed a reply you’ve posted to a comment, which had a few technically incorrect points, and I wanted to inform you of the same. You’ve mentioned:

1. ” the only answer to such a query is that generally it has to be taken life long”
2. “the only thing i can say is that you can take the product once in 2-3 days depending on how your skin reacts to it and then once one entire packet is consumed (30 sachets), a gap of one month is must so that the body does not get used to the product and will continue to show the same results. Nutrova Collagen + Anti-Oxidants Product Review

Hey Everyone! Hope the summer is treating you well. Hope you are not really skipping your sunscreen? And, yes, tomatoes because the lycopene in them helps your skin fight the sun damage and increases your tolerance towards the harmful rays as well.

These days I am getting my lycopene not from the tomatoes but the Nutrova Collagen + Anti-Oxidants nutritional supplement which I talked about a while back. I got this product in the first week of April and I was supposed to consume the 30 sachets in 30 consecutive days. But, somehow or the other, I still have 5-6 sachets left to consume but still I think I can review the product without any qualms. So, let me start!

Price : Rs 2750 (lets see if the product is worth it?).

Availability : Nutrova Website.

Type of Product : Nutritional Supplement in powdered form.

Color, Flavor and Texture : Cream colored granules in cranberry flavor which are not exactly completely soluble in water.

Usage : Mix contents of one sachet with water everyday and consume it.

Packaging : Since the product is available in sachets of 12gms each, it is easy to carry. The only thing which the brand can provide is a little slit so that the sachet can be opened easily without needing a scissor.
