Always have a bottle of calamine lotion {Product Review}

Lactocalamine Skinsurance Classic for oily skin

Just a small advise from my side for everyone irrespective of their skin type is to always have a bottle of calamine lotion at home. Sudden and unexpected outbreaks are no irregular in the lives we lead even for the driest of the skins and in the unlikeliest of the weathers. These outbreaks are all thanks to our lifestyle and the pollution around us and not to forget the amount of chemicals we are slathering.

So, always keep a bottle of calamine lotion or a clay mask. And, when ever you have an outbreak, you can use either of them. A topical (on spot) application is fine with the lotion where as a clay mask should be done for the complete face. And, if I am not wrong, I should say a weekly or monthly application of a clay mask is actually not a bad idea for any skin type because it absorbs all the dirt from the skin and balances the oil production.

You can read this post to know why clay masks are necessary for skin. So, go and get yourself a calamine lotion today if you do not have one and you would not be bothered with pimples and acne and other outbreaks. Calamine lotion works well for short notices and temporary fixes and acts as a great foundation for your make up without making your face oily. And, it also holds make up for long.

      it has zinc oxide so you might feel dry because of that 🙂 the suspicious thing is that sometimes my face becomes quite oily after applying lactocalamine…like after an hour or two but I still like it 🙂

      hi Sana, are you talking about the green bottle??? yes, I had tried it long back but honestly, didn’t like it.
      btw, you can’t use lactocalamine as a sunscreen. the quantity of zinc oxide is very less and it doesn’t really protect skin from sun’s rays even if you don’t get tanned so I would recommend you to get a sunscreen, preferably neutrogena.

      i do not think calamine lotion would be the best choice because it does not moisturize the skin. i would suggest you consult a doctor for proper treatment of the condition.

    Hi, I have been using Ponds white beauty cream for a while . But, recently one of my friends suggested to go for Lacto calamine classic. After using it for two days, i noticed, tiny boils erupted on my face. I have not applied it as a make up base or so. I just dabbed some quantity on my face before stepping out in sun and the same I followed before retiring to bed. Can any one suggest, if i could apply lactocalamine first as a base and over that this ponds white beauty.My face is oily in summer and vice-versa in winter.

      No , use Retino-A , lactocalamine is only for oil control , so before going to bed use Seba Med Ph.5.5 face wash , this combination will give you a beautiful pimple free face

      hi Abhilash. is ths is a doctor’s prescription because unless prescribed it is always better to stay away from such medicated products like retino-A. i would say the 16 year old better go to a doc for consultation once for a compete analysis.

    To anonymous user regarding Ponds beauty cream and calamine:

    I would not combine the two together, as this may have clogged the pores, forming those boils (combined with the sweat and oil throughout the day.)

    If you prefer the beauty cream, use it alone/not-mixed with any other creams. Some chemicals react with each other (which is why brands create separate product-lines; some skin is more sensitive to over-exposure of chemicals, so the ‘sensitive-skin’ products are created with a lighter compound of ingredients.

    Calamine lotion is also intended for bug bites or rashes- skin that is already irritated/inflamed. It’s best used in moderation, when needed, because it is drying. Beauty creams can be re-applied, as the chemical compound Is easier for the skin to absorb (as it was intended for)

    I hope this helps.

      hi Mona. no, in fact quite opposite. It gives a bit of sun protection due to presence of zinc oxide but do not consider it a sunscreen. always remember one thing though. you must use a cleansing milk to remove lactocalamine because zinc oxide does not get washed off otherwise with just a face wash.
