SaND for Soapaholics : Product Review

Sand for soapaholic product reviews, SaND for Soapaholics

Long back, sometime in June or July, I came across this brand. Now, the interesting fact is that this brand is the Indian equivalent of Lush. So, I decided to try it out and shopped on their website for worth of Rs 1800. The first impressions of this brand was the expense. It is so expensive and the products you get for your money would last you hardly 15 days which is quite sad!!

Anyways, I got quite a number of product though their quantities is questionable! So, let me talk about each product.

SaND for Soapaholics Product Reviews

Availability – Website

And a Bit of Tenderness Bathing Soap Bar

sand for soapaholic and a bit of tenderness bathing bar product review, SaND for Soapaholics

Price : Rs 360 for 100gms

Ingredients

Every 10gm contains Vegetable Glycerine (15.00%), Distilled Water (10.00%), Buffalo Milk (5.50%), Honey (4.80%), Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (4.72%), Jojoba (Simmondsia chinensis) Oil (2.50%), Bentonite Clay (2.00%), Colour (0.20%)

My Review

I got a 100 gms of this soap which lasted me a good 20 days with usage of two times most of the days which is pretty decent.

The texture of the soap is a bit weird. It is powdery and buttery so you would have chunks of it coming out when you try to have a bath. It does cleanse off the skin but it is not good to get rid of persistent dirt or sweat so you can use it in the morning but not evening. It is better to go for proper cleansers at that time. And, it does not get rid of oil even after double or triple cleansing.

And, does it moisturise? Well, I would say that you need to moisturise even after using the handmade soaps. They just clean your skin. Moisturization is a separate function. But, it does not leave the skin stretchy or dry. But, I am not sure how it would react in winters. My skin did feel itchy when I used it. And, a handmade soap having SLS does bother me!! But, then, I am no chemist.

After Glow

sand for soapaholic after glow face cleanser product review, SaND for Soapaholics

Price : Rs 710 for 100gms

Ingredients

Every 10gm contains Vegetable Glycerine (32.02%), Masoor Seed Ext. (Lens culinaris) (29.98%), Kaolin (16.54%), Oil blend of Jojoba, Wheatgem Seed (Triticum sativum), Hempseed (Cannabis sativa), Almond Seed (Prunus amygdalus) & Vit E (6.15%), Aloe vera Ext. (4.01%), Almond Seed Ext. (Prunus amygdalus) (4.01%), Honey Liq. (4.01%), Turmeric Ext. (Curcuma longa) (1.64%), Ylang Ylang Ess. Oil (0.82%)

My Review

I am not sure if I ordered for 100 gms or was it 50 gms but I used the product for a good 15 days. The product is a blend of all the goodness and as you can imagine, it does sting when you apply it on the skin. Just like you would use any Lush product, I spread this product on my face after splashing it with water and then just scrub it around. The product has an orange peel like texture which acts as gentle exfoliator.

I would not say that this product really makes my skin glowing but it cleanses the skin like any homemade chickpea cleanser would. You can not use it after cleansing your skin in the evening to remove the sunscreen residue. And, it does not even remove oil properly. I did feel that it was a bit harsh for my skin and made my skin dry. But, then, I might be wrong.

Shine & Shiny

sand for soapaholic shine and shiny hair conditioner product review, SaND for Soapaholics

Price : Rs 980 for 100gms

Ingredients

Every 10gm contains Distilled Water (44.00%), Vegetable Glycerine (12.10%), Jojoba Oil (Simmondsia chinensis) (4.88%), Ess.Oil blend of Jasmine Flower (Jasminum grandiflorum), Ylang Ylang (Cananga odorata) & Marjoram Aerial part (Origanum majorana) (4.88%), Phenoxyethanol (1.00%)

My Review

So, this is a conditioner. Unfortunately, I used it only once and it did NOTHING for my hair. And, since then, I have been using it as a shaving base. As a shaving base, the product is really amazing. It spreads easily and lets the razor glide on smoothly and does not even dry the skin at all. So, yes, it was useful for something!!

Aam Leela

sand for soapaholic aam leela face mask product review, SaND for Soapaholics

Price : Rs 125 for 20gms

My Review

This product is seasonal and was available at the time when I ordered but it is not a regular in their catalogue so I do not have the ingredient list. Now, the first time I used this mask, Mr. P did comment on how glowing my face was looking. That made me happy that atleast something from this brand was working. But, the next two or three times I used the product, there was NO difference. So, again a disappointment.

Quick Fix

sand for soapaholic quick fix face moisturizer product review, SaND for Soapaholics

Price : Rs 2000 for 100gms

Ingredients

Every 10gm contains Aloe vera Leaf Gel (72.00%), Jojoba Oil (Simmondsia chinensis) (24.00%), Phenoxyethanol (1.00%), Ess.Oil blend of Rosemary Aerial part (Rosmarinus officinalis) & Ylang Ylang (Cananga odorata) (1.00%)

My Review

This product is a 2-in-1. You can use it as a leave in serum for hair and as a moisturiser for your face. Sorry to say, it worked for neither. For face, it just goes on greasily without moisturising or hydrating the skin. And, for hair, it simply makes it greasy and I used only a pea sized drop of product. Now, I use this to moisturise my feet and I absolutely hate the sticky feeling it leaves after I apply it on my feet. I am just trying to finish the product.

Floral Bouquet

sand for soapaholic floral bouquet bathing powder product review, SaND for Soapaholics

Price : Rs 600 for 125gms

Ingredients

Every 10gm contains Sodium Bicarbonate (40.73%), Tapoica Starch (Manihot esculenta) (26.48%), Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (9.67%), Cocoa Butter (Theobroma cacao) (5.09%), Honey Pdr. (5.09%), Ess.Oil blend of Jasmine Flower (Jasminum grandiflorum) & Rosemary Aerial parts (Rosmarinus officinalis),  Oil of Rose Flower (Rosa centifolia) (0.68%), Colour (0.20%)

My Review

This has to be the most interesting product I tried from the range. It is almost like the cleansing powder for the body. When mixed with water, the product becomes sudsy and can be easily used to cleanse the skin. The most enchanting part is it really smells wonderful and it stands up to its name in that department. It leaves the skin soft and supple but I did think it might have made the skin a bit dry. But, the fragrance is lovely.

My Verdict

After using so many products from the brand, almost all turned out to be very disappointing. I would not recommend it to anyone.

This sounds disappointing… I thought Sand for Soapaholics was like an Indian version of Lush and that’s what I have read in many beauty blogs. But looks like it isn’t at all close to it.

Hey Archana. Yeah, even I was tempted by them but unfortunately they fall a long way short!!! I was extremely disappointed and I am never so severe on any brand generally.

Hi Swati, I am Mini Tejaswi a journalist from Bangalore. Am a big time fan of Lush. To me too, Sandforshopoholics came across as an Indian equivalent of Lush. Hence am currently trying some of theirproducts.. six of them, three of them in the last two months with no visible effect yet. Hmmm, let me finish these products n share my feed back. By the way, am using a turmeric based cleanser cum face pack in the last almost a week…and it’s a disaster.

Do brands like these need regulatory testing? and if so which one? There is another company called The Skin Pantry which doesn’t even tell you what ingredients they have in their product.

A perfect 5 out of 5.. The face cleanser and moisturizer has made every morning happy and healthy !! Thanks for showing me the excellent results of using all natural skincare.

Absolutely love the hair force hair mask. I would even give 10 stars for that. 1 application and difference is seen and felt. 4-5 applications and people actually started asking what did I do to my hair. It looks so much healthy. Smell – Just love it. I can use it just for the smell. just LOVE
