You cocooned in a comforter, a blanket of snow covering everything outside, flakes still dancing in the wind, hot cocoa in your favourite mug on your bedside table and a book in your hand. Ever fantasized something like this?
I always do! I would love to read a Georgette Heyer at such a time. Her books are light reads and funny as hell and witty and sarcastic and biting. Here are my 5 favourites from Gerogetter Heyer books. Some of them are tied up!
Sylvester (Read it here)
You would fall in love with Phoebe and Tom. Their escapades at the Blue Boar are hilarious.
Frederica (Read it here)
It is not as much about Marquis of Alverstoke as much it is about the family of Merrivilles, especially Frederica, Jessamy and Felix. Felix is adorable as hell and you would love to have brother like him!
Grand Sophy (Read it here)
Though the heroine is ruthless and selfish, you would love to go on a ride with her. How she manages to set everything right in her aunt’s household is fun.
The Nonesuch (Read it here)
Even before the first scene is set, you would fall in love with Sir Waldo Hawkridge and Lord Lindeth. Even the distasteful character of Lawrence appeals to you at the end. The climax is the best part. It just leaves you wanting more!
Devil’s Cub (Read it here)
A sequel to “These Old Shades”, the story continues to chart the entanglement of Marquis of Vidal, the offspring of Duke and Duchess of Avon. It is probably the most madcap of her stories in which all the people keep on chasing each other but provides entertainment to no end!!
These are my absolute favourites which I tend to open when I am happy or when I am sad or when I have a headache or when I am waiting for someone or something or when I am just plain restless. Georgette Heyer is my go to author and I just can not get enough of her!! If you do like Victorian romances, the regency era and those fashions and etiquettes, you MUST check out Georgette Heyer books.
