I was so excited for Oils of Life that I got it the first day of its release. Yeah, the advertising works π And, I have been using it on and off for almost six months now (got it in November). I am nearing the end of the bottle so decided it is time to review it. So, let me start.
The Body Shop Oils of Life Intensely Revitalizing Facial Oil Product Review
Price : Rs 3,095 for 30ml
Skin Type, Fragrance and Texture
I think it would suit all skin types. The texture of the oil is not heavy on skin, gets absorbed in a jiffy and has cumin oil which would, according to me, sit well on oily and combination skin.
The oil is colourless and smells awesome. It has the subtle cumin smell which is amazing and soothing for my nerves. It helps me calm down and does not linger long either.
Packaging
Comes in a very pretty dual coloured glass bottle with a dropper. Not really travel-friendly but you can always decant it into a smaller bottle and carry it though dispensing it might not be easy without a dropper.
Usage
When I bought it, the SA had assured me that 1-3 drops would suffice for the whole face. But, gradually, I noticed that almost 5-10 drops are necessary to cover face, neck and dΓ©colletage. It is a very light oil and can be used both in morning and evening.
Btw, even after using it for almost 2.5 months continuously for both morning and evening, you can see that I am left with more than 1/3rd of the product. It should last me another month.
How does it feel on skin?
It gets absorbed into the skin instantly. Even 10 drops of oil does not feel heavy on the skin. In winters, I had to follow it up with another moisturiser but in summers oil itself is not enough but it does not bother the skin either. A hydrating product would be great with this, though. The oil only moisturises and does not hydrate.
I forgot to mention that the product itself says that it must be followed with a moisturiser.
Results
Honestly, I had huge expectation from the product. To begin with, it is a great oil and it keeps the skin soft and plump and nourished and bright. Skin does feel more elastic and may be it helps with skin sagging issues.
Apparently, it smoothens the skin but I did not notice anything of the kind. May be because my skin is relatively young and in good shape, the effects are not immediately visible.
Regarding radiance, I would not say that skin glows like a bulb has been switched on. Skin brightens but that is as a result of good nourishment but the results do not really stay for entire day if you do not take care of your skin like applying sunscreen or moisturising or not drinking enough water.
But, it did not do anything for my wrinkles. I was hoping that this product might be able to reduce the depth of the neck line which is very prominently visible. It hardly did anything for it. But, I cannot really complain because I think the oil might work for fine lines. It just can not heal a skin which is badly damaged, in this case a very deep wrinkle which probably needs medical attention.
Overall Verdict
The facial oil is great but I think it is very expensive for what it does. I am sure there are products with a lower price range which give same results or better yet one can use cold pressed carrier oils. They are just waiting to be found. But, yes, if you do want to give it a try, go ahead and experience it. The best part of this oil is its smell. It is, as the literature says, a highly sensorial experience. I am in love with black cumin oil!

I was thinking whether to buy this or not. Thanks for the review. π It doesn’t seem to do anything exceptional for its price.

hi Archana. the comments went to spam!! yeah, the prie tag wants me to expect great things out of it but it is just a regular facial oil. I am not finding that right product which does magic to my skin π

Have you tried Just Herbs Elixir serum? I loved it. It is watery and very light. If you have dry skin, you would need to follow up with moisturizer though…

No archana. I have heard a lot of positive reviews but not yet tried it. You reviewed it?

Not yet… review will be up soon. In short, I loved it. π

The price is crazy!! CRAZY!!
TBS products are so expensive.. so as of now I’m using just plain rosehip oil as facial oil..

hehe….true yaar! but, some of the are really worth it, especially their spa range. the african forest range or something and I have one of their body scrubs which is more like a shower butter but way too good, totally luxurious. and, their polynesian monoi oil is good. I want to try their british rose range, looks tempting!! how is rosehip oil working for you? I used up one bottle from soulflower but honestly didn’t like it.
