What I think about the Serena Spa Coconut Milk Body Massage?
The Welcome
I think the spa decor is incomplete without a serenely sitting Buddha and a lot of rose petals. They are found in every single spa I have been to and I love it. The dim lights, the soothing music and the heavenly fragrance goes a long way to relax the senses. I was provided with a welcoming cup of hot and steaming green tea. The tea set itself was fabulous.
The Massage
After having my green tea, I was shown into the massage room and asked to change.
I wish they had given a foot spa before the massage though. That was something I experienced in Langkawi. As soon as we entered the spa, the staff came with a welcoming drink and gave a 5 minute foot cleanse and asked us to change into comfy slippers. The ritual washes off the dirt from the feet, which do get grimy howsoever much you might try, and it is filthy for even masseuses to massage on unclean feet. I wish they start doing that specifically.
Anyways, so I changed. I would like to mention about their choice of disposable inner wear here. It was peculiar, more suited for males than females and I wish it had been different!! Needless to say I was uncomfortable with it.
Once I changed, the massage started with Limi, my masseuse, bringing in freshly made coconut milk for the body and coconut oil for head massage. The massage was relaxing.
Here, I would make a special mention about the ankle and foot massage which was almost for just two minutes in the course but it was heavenly. If their foot massage is anywhere near it, it is an absolute experience. Mr. P always keeps on telling me about how he had amazing foot massages in Malaysia and Bangkok. Now, I get why he is so obsessed with them. In fact, I realized it later that I should have asked Limi to prolong the massage there and cut down somewhere else! That two minutes itself relaxed me like nothing else could.
One thing which was missing in the massage was the attention towards finger tips and toe tips. Usually, during massage, more attention is given to them as they are the nerve ending pressure points to relieve stress.
Coconut Milk vs Oil Massage
Coming to the usage of coconut milk, I am quite used to the slip of oils during spa so the texture of coconut milk was new and weird. The slip of an oil massage is very different from that of coconut milk though it is not uncomfortable at all. The milk tends to get sticky and dry on the skin once you are done with that area in a few minutes.
Shower after Massage
Yes, a shower is necessary after the Serena Spa coconut milk body massage. The coconut milk gets quite sticky. So, carry your toilet kit in case you are planning to take the service and are very particular about which products you are using on your body. Because, Serena Spa does not provide any spa products for you in the bathroom. They have just generic body wash and shampoo dispensers.
Results – Serena Spa Coconut Milk Body Massage
My skin felt really soft and smooth after the shower. It was glowing in the mirror and looked plump and bright. There is no need for a moisturizer thereafter obviously.
Two days later, I can still see that my skin is equally soft. The flakiness I had in my fingers and heels is reduced and they are a lot softer. If I keep my moisture locked with proper body lotion application, my skin is very well taken care of.
Definitely recommended. The experience could have been more indulging but the massage itself and especially the results are great. Imagine doing this at home!
In fact, I feel quite inspired to DIY this treatment at home. Yes, it is work and may be doing a body massage is not possible unless you have help. But, you could obviously do this for the face. I shall definitely share the experience in case I do it.
Have you ever been to Serena Spa? Does my experience tempt you to try out the Serena Spa coconut milk body massage? Would you like to DIY it at home? Have you ever used coconut milk for beauty purposes? Did you like it?
