Satliva Hemp with Shea Butter and Activated Charcoal Soap Bar

If you have been following me long enough, you would know by now that I really like charcoal based products. Ever since the concept came out, I have used various face washes and masks from different brands. I currently have the ones from L’Oreal and The Body Shop, both I am really liking. And, I have my eyes on the Aroma Magic bamboo charcoal face pack as well. So, anyways, let us see how does a charcoal soap do for our body.

The charcoal powder in the soap gives a nice gentle scrub to the body while the soap glides all over, thanks to the shea butter.

The soap comes in a beautiful packaging and looks nice on the counter. It feels buttery to touch inspite of the gritty look. It lathers very little but just like with other handmade soaps, it melts pretty quickly so do not let it sit in water. The best way to use any handmade soap is to lather it between the palms and then use it.

The charcoal powder in the soap gives a nice gentle scrub to the body while the soap glides all over, thanks to the shea butter. Though it lathers pretty little as I mentioned earlier, it does cleanse well. But, be extra tough on the hard skin like the heels. I usually find that more soap is required there. Or, if my feet are too dirty, I would use something else!

Thanks to the peppermint essential oil, the soap feels very cooling on the body and smells nice in a very earthy kind of way. I like to leave it on the skin for 1-2 minutes before washing off. It leaves the skin glowing and soft but you have moisturize afterward. It would not leave your skin stretchy-dry but it is a good habit to follow up with lotion no matter how amazing your soap is.

I have been using handmade soaps for a very long time now and one gripe I have with all of them is that they are damn expensive and melt away so quickly! The maximum they stay on the shelf is probably 20-25 days and the cost quickly adds up. The same goes to this soap as well. I am already on its last legs so yup it is definitely expensive to use in the long run!

Made with Hempseed Oil, Castor Oil, Coconut Oil, Palm Oil, Argan Oil, Activated Charcoal, Peppermint Essential Oil & Shea Butter (as taken from the website)

So, one thing I would like to mention about the product is that the list of ingredients is missing on the packaging. This is for those who are particular about such details. I do like to read the list of ingredients when I get a product, more so when it claims to be natural or organic. I wish they would make that change for the next batch of packaging.

Now, it’s your turn . . . Have you ever used any charcoal soap? How did you like it? Which one did you use?

Nice review. Charcoal can be a bit drying on skin. Since it contains hemp oil and shea butter as well, it must be nourishing to the skin. Btw, if you get the Aroma Magic Charcoal Face Pack, do review it. I was also thinking of trying it…
