How to apply conditioner? {Hair Care}

Swathy · March 6, 2012 · 8 Comments

Conditioner is something unavoidable when it comes to hair care. And, I hae scores of them in my closet so I am striving to finish them off. So, last week, when I was applying my conditioner, suddenly a thought occurred to me is there was a particular way of applying a conditioner just like there is a correct of way of shampooing.
How do I condition my hair?
Ok, first of all, I do not ever carry my comb into the bathroom to distribute the conditioner evenly on the hair. Why? My hair is wet and I can never comb that much wet hair. I have never ever tried to do so as well.
I take conditioner on my palm and rub both the palms to spread the conditioner evenly and then rub the palms on to my hairs from ears down. I do not go near the scalp. But, when I am rubbing the hair with my palms, to be sure, I don’t really feel comfortable. When we rub the hair together, friction is produced and electricity is caused which creates more split ends and flyaways.
Improved method of conditioning
So, yesterday, what I did was that I took a little of the conditioner on to my palm and spread it evenly between both the palms and simply ran my hand through the hair. No rubbing at all. I took a little bit more of the conditioner and ran it through the ends again. No Comb at all. And, I am hoping that this would be a better way to apply the conditioner in the future.
What do you say?

Bridal Files {Your Opinion}

Swathy · March 4, 2012 · 6 Comments

Since, I told you about the upcoming weddings of two lovely ladies and their request on some skin care and hair care tips, I decided to do a bridal series instead. Actually, why I didn’t do it till date was because I thought I would broach the topic when mine would be fixed 😀 Anyways, I don’t think its going to happen int he near future so I shall as well make a diary of things which I would like to do when I would be a bride. This would serve as a diary for me and hopefully prove helpful for you.
So, I was just thinking about the series and have broken it up into various parts.

Sugar Body Scrub with a twist {DIY}

Swathy · February 29, 2012 · 5 Comments

Ok, let me confess that making a DIY every week is really not easy for So, today’s recipe is almost a copy of the sugar body polish which I have posted long back. I could think of nothing else and I have so many products to finish that it simply discourages me from whipping anything up. So, I have decided that next week I shall bring you a different series of DIY’s which will include Essential Oils because currently, I am a lot into them.
Ingredients
  • 3 table spoon sugar
  • 1 table spoon fuller’s Earth or multani mitti
  • 1 table spoon rose petals powder
  • 1 tablespoon spices (mixture of nutmeg, cinnamon and cloves)
  • Honey (as required)
  • Essential Oils (optional)

Method

Mix all the ingredients except EO and honey. Add honey and make a gooey paste. Add 1-2 drops of your favorite drops of EO’s and, scrub and rub a dub 🙂
Results
Awesomely soft and instantly glowing skin. Moisturize well and sleep off to protect this glow and it will last you for days together. Do this once a week for a good scrubbing.
The rose petals provide luxury and spices provide a spicy edge to the scrub. And, you will like the smell too.
Hope you like it 🙂
