Dare to Change: Get up 15 minutes early

Swathy · August 8, 2012 · 17 Comments

So, this is my second challenge for the month. And, trust me, I think I have jumped on the tougher bandwagon really early!! Coz, I am so lazy that getting up in the morning is literally a huge challenge for me. These days I am getting up at about 7:30 on average.

So, now, I shall try to get up at 7 sharp or latest by 7:15 AM

I know some of you might think that getting up at 7 is not exactly achieving a huge thing but yes, it is, for me!! I have been trying to do the same since like ages together. And, failed miserably every time. And, do check out the cartoon below 🙂
I could not NOT share this one with you 🙂
Btw, I am sure you guys might also be interested in how the first challenge is coming up? Well, to be honest, not really good coz this weekend I had moved and was busy with all that and really tired and then, yesterday and today, I came back from off at like 7 – 7:30 which is like really late for me.
So, all this is tiring me up coz I really do not get time to relax. And, if I can’t relax, its difficult to follow any routine. And, worst part is that I am not even able to take out time to write posts 🙁 And, yeah, I am struggling on it right now at 10 by which time I should be reading P.G.Wodehouse and preparing for my sleep. And, honestly, I do wonder how you guys with extremely hectic schedule really manage to take time for yourself and your blogs. Kudos to all of you 🙂
So, are you ready to join in for the second challenge and if you really took the first one, how did it go?

Dove Color Rescue Shampoo and Conditioner {Product Review}

Swathy · August 7, 2012 · 16 Comments

Shampoo

Price: Rs 130 for 200ml
Ingredients

Pros
– not very harsh on hair
– does clean the hair really well in even one go
Cons
– has SLS
– can be drying for dry hair types
My Experience
The product is pearly white and cleanses very nicely. It removes all the oil in almost one go unless your hair is dripping with oil. Its not exactly harsh on hair and I found it to be less drying than Dove Nourishing Oil shampoo. What else should I say?
Conditioner
Price: Rs 72 for 90ml
Ingredients

Pros
– very light so doesn’t weigh down the hair
– makes the hair soft
– adds a bit of shine
Cons
– probably doesn’t really do anything for the hair except for making it shiny
My Experience
As I mentioned above, the consistency of the product is light and very creamy so it spreads easily on wet hair. If you keep it less than a minute. it doesn’t really do anything for the hair but around even a minutes is enough to make the hair soft and shiny.
Don’t know how much it does for the colored hair coz its not exactly a deep conditioning or damage repair product (colored hair is dry and might be damaged in some cases). Also, I don’t think it really made my year old colored hair glowing or soft.
Overall Verdict
But, then, to do justice to the product, my hair color is pretty old and I have done a lot of things to my hair since then as part of various treatments. Overall, the range is worth a try.

Meals should be full not heavy {Health}

Swathy · August 6, 2012 · 8 Comments

Ok, so there is a lot of difference between feeling full and feeling heavy after finishing a meal. Many people tend to get confused. You should always feel full but any meal which makes you feel heavy or uneasy is supposed to undergo a review.

What I call full?
First of all, any meal of the day should be stretched over a time period of 20 minutes of consumption. Why? Because, only after twenty minutes, can our brain signal that whether we have had enough of food or not. Also, I know that these days its very difficult for anyone to spend so much of time on a meal.
We all tend to have meals on-the-go. So, obviously, you wouldn’t know whether you are over-eating or not when you have so rushed a meal which almost always makes you feel heavy or you do not have enough of food at once. So, make your food full of fiber. That will ultimately make you feel fuller.
White foods
Avoid foods which are white because they generally end up bloating you so you feel heavy instead of full. When consuming white rice, try to take unpolished instead of polished as it tastes just like rice (for those who can’t like the taste brown rice). Also, unpolished rice has the advantage of being lighter than the brown counterpart.
What I suggest?
The reason I am doing this post is because very lately I had done a post on Bloated Stomach and what all makes one feel uneasy after a meal and as I have been talking about a changed place since a bit of time, I am eating organic food (non-perishable items are all organic mostly from 24 Letter Mantra which is USDA certified).
Even though I am pretty sure that I am eating just as I used to, I do not feel heavy or bloated at any point of time or rather have not felt it yet!!! We are served unpolished rice here and I usually avoid it at night but yesterday I had it at night and even then, I was full but not heavy.
So, make sure whatever you eat makes you feel full and not heavy. How do you prefer to eat?
