Neutrogena Extra Gentle Cleanser Product Review

I know you are getting bombarded with a load of product reviews since last week. Please bear with me since my shelf is fulllllll of soooo many of them and most of them I have totally loved!! So, today, I have this extremely expensive cleanser which gets finished in just half a month, especially if you use it like I do. But, I found it amazing for my skin. Why? Read further and you will have the answers. In the meantime, do recommend any of your favourite cleansers as well!!

I did mention that I have started using sunscreen again and as much as I love using oil to remove my sunscreen, I do like to use cleansers sometimes. The latest in cleansers is the balms which seem quite interesting and I am quite interested in trying out the one from Clinique. May be in a few months! While searching for suitable cleansers, I came across this one from Neutrogena. I have managed to empty the bottle in just 15 days which is why I said it is expensive. So, let me elaborate on why I like the product.

Neutrogena Extra Gentle Cleanser Product Review

Price : Rs 499 for 200ml

Availability : easily in all cosmetic outlets

Suitable for : Dry and Normal Skin

Packaging : It comes with a pump packaging. Since the bottle is large size, it is not travel-friendly but you can always decant it into travel-sized bottles.

Texture : The cleanser is creamy and spreads easily on wet skin.

Usage and Results

Initially for first two days, I used the product on its own which was a big mistake. I forgot to read the instructions which specifically say to apply it on wet skin. So, just splash a bit of water on your face, take a dollop of the cleanser and smooth it on the skin. Massage and wipe off. In fact, the product can be rinsed off with water easily as well. And, it does cleanse off the entire makeup and sunscreen in just one go. There is no need to apply the product again! Just make sure you massage well before rinsing it off.

I used two pumps of the product for my face and neck and one pump each for each arm. You can also wipe it off with a wash cloth pretty easily. There is no greasy feel after the product is rinsed off and it is fine even if you skip the face wash. Being a person of regular habits, I do prefer to use face wash though. Even though the product is creamy, it does not feel heavy on the skin. In fact, something worth mentioning about the product is that it takes pretty good care of blackheads as well.

My verdict

I love Neutrogena as a brand, it has never really disappointed me with its products. And, even though it is expensive, I would definitely recommend you to try out the product. But, I am really not sure if it is suitable for oily skin. It is specifically mentioned for dry skin and the brand has a separate product for oily skin so do not pick this up.

And, now over to you…

Have you use this cleanser? Did you like it? And, if not, what is your favourite cleanser? Do you like using the micellar waters instead to cleanse off your makeup and sunscreen?

Nice review, Swati. I have a query. Is it necessary to use a makeup remover/oil to remove sunscreen? Regular face wash is not enough?

hi Archana. how are you doing? Thanks a lot for staying up with my sporadic posting!!
as to your question, the answer is yes. the ingredients in sunscreen are oil-based which can be removed only with makeup removers or oil. so, yes, face wash is not enough. if you use enough quantity of sunscreen, you would see the water just slipping off on top of the sunscreen film instead of sticking to the skin.

hi Palak. this is a makeup remover and not only a face wash so you should use it only after you apply makeup or sunscreen.
