Egg Hair Pack for extremely silky and shiny hair {DIY}

Swathy · April 28, 2011 · 51 Comments

Eggs are really great for hair as we are all aware of. Now, when I used this hair pack on my hair, I kept it for around 3-4 hours, though not intentionally. So, I believe that the results of this hair pack are more due to the time it stayed on my hair rather than the ingredients. But, the ingredients are also fabulous and just two in number!!!
Ingredients:
  • 3 eggs
  • amla powder
Method
Break the eggs into a bowl and whisk them into a smooth consistency. Add amla powder so that it becomes a smooth paste. Make sure it is not clumpy at all otherwise the whole thing tends to clump on the hair. Never make your hair packs clumpy. They do not deliver results properly as hair is not able to absorb it as well as it absorbs a smooth paste applied on it. So, after you make this paste, apply it on the scalp and along the whole length of the hair concentrating on the roots and the ends. I kept it on 3-4 hours but you can also make do with one or try to keep it for longer periods on weekends or at nights. Eggs make hair amazingly silky if left on for longer period of time, as my experience goes, though, I know it is difficult with the smell 🙁
Results
Extremely silky, soft and shiny hair which lasts for weeks together. I did this routine before April 10th and my hair is just the same even now and I have not applied anything extra to my hair in the meantime. And, the shine is unimaginable. It makes your hair more shinier than any leave-in or any hair product. Of course, using amla made my hair look darker too so the shine reflected better. And, I have wavy to curly hair. So, straight-haired gals, your hair is literally gonna shine like a lantern!!! Ok, bad joke 😀 but the results are just amazing and a lot can be attributed to the fact that we are using 3 eggs instead of just one which we customarily use. More the eggs, better coverage and better results. So, guys, try it and share your feedback!!! Don’t forget to cover with a shower cap. And, for even better results, steam your hair before applying the pack to open the cuticles for better absorption.

hey pretty in colors…I actually didn’t get amla powder…I got amla churan from Ramdev shop so you can try there otherwise amla churan is generally available in supermarkets or even better get fresh amla and make a puree and add…fresh hair pack 🙂

hey anamika…you can use yogurt too but I have noticed that yogurt makes hair extremely soft but not silky…eggs give a different conditioning to the hair and yogurt’s effects are somewhat different in my experience…can be tried with yogurt if one hates egg smell..would love to know how it works 🙂

hey….oh the egg smell didn’t linger for me after the hair wash but if it doesn’t seem to go then you can rinse your hair with apple cider vinegar…mix 4-5 tea spoons of apple cider vinegar in a mug full of plain water and use it as a last rinse…that helps overcome the smell of eggs and also don’t worry about the vinegar smell coz it will go away as your hair dries off…also next time you use egg hair packs you can add essential oils which overcome the smell of the eggs 🙂 hope this helps and sorry for the egg smell 🙁

hey Nisha…of course you can use shikakai powder but don’t use ritha powder coz its used to wash the hair and creates foam when it is mixed with anything liquid 🙂 hope this helps!!!

    Hi,

I tried this pack yesterday. It has turned out very nice. My hair is long and silky but I am having excessive hair pack and thinning of hair in the parting section of my hair.

Many things which you have mentioned in the blog are easy to do and so I really like your blog a lot. Could you please mail me your email address since I wanted some advice from you.

hey Shruti…I am really glad that you liked the pack 🙂
and you mean hair fall right??? a quick fix remedy is to mix onion juice and oil whenever you apply on your hair or in your hair packs…apply onion juice specially on the area where you have excessively thin hair…you will se results in 15days only 🙂 trust me I tried it just a month back and it worked like a charm…the hair growth was noticeable by my friends too!!!
I am glad you like my blog 🙂 yeah sure you can mail me @ perfectskincareforyou@gmail.com

hey manisha…actually amla oil is also infused amla in some base oil so it would be great if you can amla powder but if you don’t get it, you can use any amla oil 🙂

hey Vini…actually it is better to apply hair packs on dry hair or rather slightly damp hair but some packs do make the hair very dry so its better to apply them on the lightly oiled hair. its more of a trial and error scenario 🙂
