Facial Shaving and Shaving tips for Women

shaving tips for women

#DidYouKnow facial shaving is the new craze!

Have you ever tried shaving? It is one of the most convenient and inexpensive ways to get rid of hair. It is also useful when you have an emergency and lack time for a salon trip.

Lately, shaving has gained prominence in the alternatives of hair removal though there are quite a lot misconceptions surrounding the procedure. It is said that shaving results in coarse and thicker hair growth which is why girls usually avoid it.

If these misconceptions interest you, let me share with you some of the shaving tips which will help you get started.

Shaving Tips – Which Razor to Use?

Male razor or a female one? Earlier, there were no razors available specifically for women. Now, you have variety of them in various colours as well. You can choose the disposable ones or you can go for the refillable blades like you might have seen your dad do. Most of these razors come with moisturising strips which claim to soften the skin after shaving. I have never seen any difference but then I have never used one without a strip either.

DIY Oats and Almonds Cleanser for Sensitive and Dry Skin

Nayantara Karnik · January 28, 2016 · 13 Comments

Update: This post is chosen as one of the 10 Must Try DIY’s by Blogadda. Congratulations Nayantara and thanks for such a wonderful DIY 🙂

DIY Oats and Almonds Cleanser for Sensitive and Dry Skin

My skin was totally acting up a couple of months back. I don’t really suffer from acne though I do have combination skin. I was getting dry red patches, itchiness and irritation especially around my mouth. All the usual face washes and cleansers were only aggravating the problem and no amount of moisturizers or facial oils were helping.

I figured the problem was sulphates which I’ve eliminated from my shampoos but it’s real hard to find face washes without them. Usually the Aroma Magic ones work well for me as they are sulphate-free and mild but I needed more this time. I know that oats are the bomb for sensitive skin and redness so I pottered around to find a good concoction of stuff that would work for me.

Oats are an excellent source of omega-3 fatty acids, thiamine and iron. They are known to have anti-inflammatory properties and suit all skin-types, even the most sensitive. These properties make it great for treating acne and redness, sunburn & itchy skin. They also contain natural mild cleansing agents and gently moisturise and exfoliate skin.

Next up is green tea, a favourite of mine for all things skin & hair, loaded with anti-oxidants, helps in skin-renewal and hence anti-aging. Another benefit here is its anti-inflammatory properties, again great to treat redness, rosacea and acne as well.

Almonds are known the world over to be great for skin. They also contain anti-oxidants which help to protect skin, omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin E which is an additional anti-oxidant, magnesium and calcium which counter the effects of stress hormones and help cells absorb nutrients. They are great for glowing skin and to combat dryness. When ground to powder they also, like oats, make a very mild exfoliant.

So I thought of using these awesome ingredients to concoct a face cleanser-mask for myself judging by the way cleansing grains have become so popular over the conventional face washes. But I wanted to make it a bit more special, so read on to see what else I added to it.

Nivea Refreshing Cleansing Milk Product Review

nivea cleansing milk

Updated on 11th January, 2016

Long long back, I had used the Nivea cleansing milk and I had really liked it. Last month, when I finished with the Neutrogena cleanser, I decided to try this out again. With a new packaging and improved ingredient list, it has come up again on the shelves. So, check out my updated review of this nivea cleansing milk. I have strike-d off the previous review but it is available for you to read. Please feel free to tell me what you think about this product.

This was another of my longing impulse buys as the packaging looked really cute to me. I have never ever used a cleansing milk before this so when I used it, I am not sure I liked it much. And, then, the Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish Hot Cloth cleanser arrived and this lay forgotten. But, I had to dig it out again after the Liz Earle sample got used up and believe me the 30ml sample did last me quiet long. Ok, may be due to the reason that I only need to take off the sunscreen!!! But, I am missing it!!! So, back to this review.

Nivea Refreshing Cleansing Milk Product Review (Buy it here)

A creamy product which spreads easily on the face and removes all traces of sunscreen. I have never used it with any kohl pencil so I can not say how well it removes waterproof products from the face. It is great at removing the foundation and tinted lip balms from the lips.

As the name suggests, it leaves the skin refreshed and hydrated. It suits  very well. Not sure if it would be great for oily skin but I can say that the product is extremely light in texture and feels very air-y. The fragrance is just regular one associated with nivea products. Interestingly, when I was checking out my older review, I came across the ingredient list of the earlier nivea cleansing milk. You can see the difference between both of them 🙂
