A homemade leave-in conditioner

Swathy · February 6, 2010 · 11 Comments

Today, I would be sharing with you a homemade leave-in conditioner which I generally prefer over the expensive and chemical laden leave-ins available in the market. And, the ingredient is Glycerin. Yes, it protects our hair from losing moisture and gets absorbed into the hair very easily. Take a very less quantity, probably a drop of glycerin, mix it with some water and apply on your hair. Pay special attention to your ends. Make sure you do not take more of glycerin as it will weigh your hair down just like any other leave-in.
Recipe for a home-made leave-in conditioner:
Glycerin
Aloevera
Vitamin E tablets (1-2)
Rose Water / Distilled Water / Floral Water
Method: Fill a third of a bottle with glycerin. Extract the aloevera gel from 5 leafs and put the gel into the bottle. Cut open the vitamin E tablets and pour the gel into the bottle and fill the bottle with either distilled water, rose water or floral water. Store the bottle in fridge. And, shake the bottle well before use. Pour out a small quantity and apply it onto your hair. Prepare small batches and use them before making the next batch. And, store the liquid in a glass jar.
The conditioner would be in a liquid watery consistency, instead of being gel-like. But, the effectiveness is the same or even better. Your hair will get wet. But, it will turn soft in a matter of 15-20 minutes. You can try it out at night for your own self (if you do not trust me) and see the results for yourself. Use the conditioner to moisturize your hair everyday. And, it will promote hair growth too as it has aloevera and vitamin E. And, it also prevents split ends.

A deep conditioning treatment for your hair

Swathy · February 2, 2010 · 6 Comments

Today, I would like to share with you a conditioning treatment for hair which is not messy at all. Ok, I have already written about the pre-poo treatments. Hoping that you have tried them and already seen the differences, I can say that they are quite messy though worth the trouble. I hope you will all agree. And, another fact is that many people do not have the time today to spare on the pre-poo treatments. So, here comes a very simple tip to deep condition your hair. Use your favorite conditioner.
Yes, you read correctly. Using your conditioner to give the deep conditioning treatment is one of the best things you can do for your hair. You can do it before the co-wash. Apply generous amount of conditioner on your hair. Remember to apply only to the hair body and ends and not the roots. And, leave it for 20-30 minutes before washing off. If you want better results, steam your hair before applying the conditioner and put on a shower cap to trap the heat after applying the conditioner. You can also give it a hot towel treatment by covering your head with a hot towel and keeping it on till it loses its heat and replacing it with another hot towel and repeating it for around 45minutes to 1 hour. You can also leave the conditioner on your head overnight. You need not shampoo your hair. Just wash off the conditioner.
I have left conditioner on my head for 1 whole day and the results next day have been awesome.I have mixed the conditioner with glycerin too. It gives really good results. You can try honey also. It keeps your hair moisturized all through. Your hair would be extremely soft and shiny. And, of course, manageable too. You can style your hair after the hair becomes damp. You can even use the restorative treatments in the same way. This way, the results would be better than the regular usage instructions on the package.

Pep up your locks for that special event {DIY}

Swathy · January 28, 2010 · 4 Comments

Today, I am going to share a tip with you to make your locks look great for that extra special event you are going to attend the next day.
Mix a shine serum with your deep conditioner in equal quantity and apply it on your hair the night before. Cover your head with a shower cap. And, put a hot towel on your head. This will ensure deeper conditioning treatment. Let it stay for 30 minutes. Wash off thoroughly with cold water to seal the cuticles. Voila, your hair will be shiny and healthy.
A tip: You can leave the conditioner on your head whole night. And, wash off the next day.
