Lactocalamine Deep Cleansing Face Wash {Product Review}

Swathy · May 9, 2012 · 17 Comments

Lactocalamine Skinsurance Deep Cleansing Face Wash for Oily Skin
I know this product has been there in the market since quite long and it wasn’t a buy either. I got it free with the lactocalamine bottle. Initially, to be frank, I wasn’t interested in using it and was wondering “will I get one with every lactocalamine, yikes!!!” Anyway, let’s get on with the review and let’s see if I really would mind getting it even for free πŸ™‚
Price: Rs 65 for 70ml
Ingredients
Lactocalamine Skinsurance Deep Cleansing Face Wash for Oily Skin Ingredients
Pros
– it feels really cool when you wash your face, the best part

Cons
– it has SLES
– doesn’t really control oil for long time
My Experience
Lactocalamine Skinsurance Deep Cleansing Face Wash for Oily Skin Product ColorThe gel is light purple in color and smells awfully like a bubblegum!!! I don’t really like the smell but its not exactly offending. Whenever I apply the face wash, there is an immediate cooling effect like you have applied menthol or something on the face. That’s what made me write this review πŸ™‚ Definitely a very useful thing in hot summers πŸ˜€ Right??? It has menthol and raspberry extract too which is pretty interesting.
It does make my skin feel a little dry after the wash but then, it is meant for oily skin and mine is a little quirky kind which oscillates between dry and oily. So, wouldn’t really blame the face wash and even then, it doesn’t leave my skin stretched or anything. I can easily grab a light moisturiser and I am good to go. But, the biggest thing is that it doesn’t help me with the oil on my nose and chin πŸ™ They get oily in an hour or two after washing my face.
Have you used this face wash? What do you like or hate about it?

Yardley London English Lavender Refreshing Facial Cleanser {Product Review}

Swathy · March 14, 2012 · 2 Comments

Price: Rs 70 for 50gms

Ingredients
It has SLS and Avocado Oil. I couldn’t get a clear pic of the ingredients.

Pros
– Look and smells is good and appeals to the eye
– Doesn’t dry the face or make it feel stretched after usage
Cons
– Would appreciate if it was made without SLS

My ExperienceΒ
I have been using this for a month and its almost getting finished so I can say that the face wash lasts a month or a month and half, if used judicially. I always like the transparent packaging because I can see the product level and it adds color to the product too. I am particularly liking its lavender-ish color and its fragrance is very pleasant. Btw, the packaging with which the face wash came was very very cute. I couldn’t take the pics coz mom was with me during that time!!

The product is supposed to have Avocado oil but I am disappointed that its almost the last ingredient on the list and it has SLS which I am trying to avoid. Despite that, the face wash really doesn’t foam like crazy which is something I particularly appreciate. And, my face has never felt stretchy or stripped off after using the face wash which is again a positive thing. Very little of the products is required at a time.

And, I am lucky that I got the dry skin type coz in February (when I started using it), my skin was going through an extremely dry spell. Btw, the product didn’t really help my skin at that time. But, gradually, my skin settled down to the new face wash and accepted it very gracefully. A little moisturizer is handy after the face wash but not really necessary so that’s also a good thing. I really liked the face wash overall.

Vedic Line Neem & Brahmi Disinfecting Face Wash {Product Review}

Swathy · January 27, 2012 · 4 Comments

Price: Rs 110 for 120ml
Ingredients

Purified Water, Neem Oil, Brahmi, Tea Tree Oil, Camphor, SLES, Sodium Chloride, Sodium Benzoate

“In a nutshell”

Pros

  • Ingredient List is very impressive
Cons

  • Consistency is very thin so most of the face wash falls off my hands when I try to apply it on my face πŸ™
Wish List (to the brand)

  • While you use Sodium Benzoate in place of parabens, why not use something else for SLES??Β
  • And, yes, packaging is not really catchy!!! Would love to see them packaged like some of the other products you have.

My Experience
As you can see in the pic, this is green in color. No color has been mentioned ont he ingredient list so I am assuming that brahmi and neem oil impart their color to the face wash. And, the smell of the face wash is herbal. And, before proceeding with the review, let me tell you that it is more suitable for an oily or combination skin and one which is prone to breakouts. And, since it is winters, my skin is not all that oily so I have no idea where it controls oil or not. And, similarly, I don’t really break out a lot so I can’t judge the face wash on those grounds either.

Anyways, the thing which actually bothered me a lot was the consistency of the product. It is very thin and it slips off easily even if you turn your hand a bit so while applying, the face wash does fall down and then, I have to take a little bit more of it. Ok, anyways, the product does foam very less even though it has SLES and I think there is not much of SLES either in the product as it is listed pretty low on the list. But, I have one more grouch with this face wash and that is that it leaves a film on my skin if not washed thoroughly and you really need lot of hot water to get rid of the film.

And, it does stretch out my skin a little but then in winters, my skin often dry without a moisturizer so I can’t really blame the product for that because I used some other product too and faced almost same thing. And, these days, my skin is going through extra-dry period. But, I really think that this would be a great product in summers for me when the oil is more on my skin. Overall, I don’t think I am the best judge for this face wash.
