How much sunscreen should you use?

Swathy · December 21, 2016 · 2 Comments

sunscreen, beauty products, how much sunscreen should you use

It has been so long that I have myself followed applying sunscreen rule that I could not justify a post on it. Since almost two months though, I have been consistent and seeing the results. One of the major grouches with using sunscreen for me has always been determining how much sunscreen should you use.

What you are applying – is it too little, is it too much, it is getting greasy, it is sticking out on the skin, making a whitish cast on the skin. There are just too many problems with applying sunscreen and that is when I am not even mentioning reapplication.

How much Sunscreen should you use?

Two Finger Rule

A long time back, like 5 years, I read somewhere that you must use the two finger rule to determine how much sunscreen should you use. According to this, you are supposed to apply two finger length of sunscreen on each part of your body. And, that it is a whole lot of product and, just like every other rule, the amount of sunscreen you get is determined by the texture of the product. Impossible!

Tip No. 1 – Apply sunscreen in Layers and Dots

I like to apply my sunscreen in layers and dots. First, I dot the sunscreen at the eyes and around the face and neck and decolletage. Blend. Repeat. Blend. Repeat till I am sure the sunscreen is evenly blended. Special attention to hair line, nose crevices and jaw lines. I also tend to use different sunscreens for face and body which saves money as well as a lot of hassle.

Reader’s Query – Taking Care of Acne prone Skin

Swathy · December 14, 2016 · 2 Comments

Be hygienic, acne prone skin

Taking care of acne prone skin is a different deal altogether. And, it starts with basic steps.

Hey Swati. I just wanted to ask is it okay to use besan on face for pimples with curd daily. Will it reduce my pimples? And, can I use potato juice daily on my face? Please suggest how many times in a day should I use it?

This is a question which I come across quite often, while checking out the comments or while checking out other blogs. So, I thought it might be a good idea to write about how to start taking care of acne prone skin right from step one which is using face wash.

How to start taking care of acne prone skin?

Face Wash

Have you ever wondered if your face wash is causing breakouts?

A face wash with 2% salicylic acid is usually recommended by dermatologists for acne prone skin. Why? Because, salicylic acid is the only ingredient which can cleanse out clogged pores and kill the bacteria.

AHA’s are not recommended for acne-prone skin as they are too strong to use everyday. And, not all AHA’s suit acne-prone skin either.

Inveda Passion Fruit & Silk Protein Facial Kit

Inveda Passion Fruit & Silk Protein Facial Kit

Facial Kits. I have never really bought any of them ever. This is my first facial kit and I am not sure if I am in love with it. It is not bad. It is just that I treat facial as a pampering session than a beauty regime.

I do regular cleanups at home with a face wash followed by a scrub in the shower so steam is an invariable part of my routine. And, followed by a face mask. The massage is included whenever I apply cleansing milk to remove my sunscreen. So, a lot of cleanups in a different way but not a proper facial.

Now, it would be interesting to note that this facial kit from Inveda mentions that the massage cream must be massaged for 5-6 minutes and more if done professionally. So, this is more of a cleanup if you are doing it on your own unless you know how to massage your face professionally.

Packaging

Now, I am not sure if this is the facial kit’s final packaging. But, I am not very impressed with it. As such, I hate sample sachets and this is how the cleansing cream, scrub, massage cream, face pack and its serum have been packaged. The sachets have quite enough of quantity to last for 2-3 uses so storing it is difficult.

I wish it had been packaged in small tubes instead so it becomes easy to store the product and also carry it around. [Read more…] about Inveda Passion Fruit & Silk Protein Facial Kit
