The Book Corner Vol. 8 – 5 of my favourite Georgette Heyer Books

Swathy · March 4, 2016 · Leave a Comment

georgette heyer books, these old shades, devil's cub, the nonesuch, sylvester, frederics, grand sophy

You cocooned in a comforter, a blanket of snow covering everything outside, flakes still dancing in the wind, hot cocoa in your favourite mug on your bedside table and a book in your hand. Ever fantasized something like this?

I always do! I would love to read a Georgette Heyer at such a time. Her books are light reads and funny as hell and witty and sarcastic and biting. Here are my 5 favourites from Gerogetter Heyer books. Some of them are tied up!

Sylvester (Read it here)

You would fall in love with Phoebe and Tom. Their escapades at the Blue Boar are hilarious.

Frederica (Read it here)

It is not as much about Marquis of Alverstoke as much it is about the family of Merrivilles, especially Frederica, Jessamy and Felix. Felix is adorable as hell and you would love to have brother like him!

My Agatha Christie Collection

After finishing two books in the very first week of the year, my entire month was spent in considerable reading pleasure. Most of them were Agatha Christie books.

I had binged shopped around 25-30 books at Crossword earlier in January so I was chewing up on those very books. I got a few for my Agatha Christie book collection though the best of the books were missing in the book store.

Anyways, let us checkout what all I enjoyed this month.

Crooked House (Read it here)

‘Goodbye, dear,’ she said. ‘Don’t worry too much. Certain things have to be faced and endured.

This is the best of Agatha Chrstie books. Not withstanding her own masterpiece The Murder of Roger Ackroyd. Beautiful characters and amazing plot. Subtle and simple.

The Book Corner Vol. 6 – “Stolen Hope” by Shubha Vilas Book Review

Stolen Hope by Shubha Vilas Book Review

“Excellence is a by-product of persistently choosing quality over quantity.”

Ramayana is a part of us. In fact, both Ramayana and Mahabharata constitute a big part of who we are and how we grow up. Every one has a different perception of every event in both the epics. But, one thing holds true. Whether these epics were history is immaterial but the values they constitute hold true in our lives and will always do. This is what started Shubha Vilas on his journey to pen down his own interpretation of Ramayana and how it holds true in today’s lifestyle and society, even in the corporate board rooms.

This reminds me of a professor I used to know. He used to say that Mahabharata and Bhagvad Geeta answers every single problem of this universe, even the unresearched topics, not just philosophy and psychology.

The Story

Delay Management is about understanding that some problems need not be solved now. Many problems are solved by just postponing the attempt to solve them.
