My Hair Diary – September 2013

Swathy · October 7, 2013 · 1 Comment

So, this month also I did not really concentrate on my hair. I got a hair cut in August and now I am just trying to prevent the split ends. I did not even oil my hair religiously. Its more of a washing your hair routine after coming from the office.

I hate sleeping with oil on my hair coz it stains the pillows and everything badly. And, most of the time, I wash my hair on the weekdays so there was no time for pampering. Also, I tried to use a shampoo which was totally not suiting me. Its not worth talking about so lets skip it but it did give me hair fall while I used it.
So, once I stopped using it, my hair was back to normal. So, if you are looking to change your shampoo be very very sure. Also, I have ordered Organic Surge shampoo back again as it had suited me so well. And, I am loving the conditioner as well. I can suggest it but I am not gonna review it anytime soon.
Yes, one treatment which I gave my hair in this last month was regularly using aloevera gel on the scalp and the body of the hair instead of using any oil. Why? Well, one is for a change and second, I think the oil was weighing my hair down the next day.
But, I would absolutely suggest this aloevera gel treatment. It gives such a beautiful definition to your curls and following with a drop of oil leaves your hair bouncy and next day the hair does not even end up weighed down. And, the hair is sooooooooo soft to touch.
What products I used?
  • Shampoo – Kamini Shampoo
  • Conditioner – Kamini Conditioner + Organic Surge Color Protect Conditioner
  • Hair Oil – Vaadi Herbals Amla Oil
  • Hair Treatment and Styling – Aloevera Gel
So, how is your hair doing now?

Face Cleanup at Home {DIY}

Swathy · October 6, 2013 · 4 Comments

 photo stock-photo-beautiful-young-woman-receiving-facial-massage-43575766_zpsb1884d44.jpg

Ok, this is just a DIY and is not supposed to mimic the parlor cleanups. I just randomly followed this routine one day and totally loved it so sharing it with you. You can do this when you think you can do with a little bit of pampering. I have already shared all the DIY’s in this post on the blog.
Ingredients

  • Face Wash
  • Homemade Body Polish
  • Deep Cleansing Mask
  • Nourishing Mask
  • Face Towel

Method

  • Wash your face and neck thoroughly to remove all grime and dirt. If makeup is already there, remove it properly using the double cleansing method.
  • Take this body polish and scrub your face and neck till all the granules melt off. This will take about 5-10 minutes at max.
  • Now, the next step is to use a deep cleansing mask or any mud mask which absorbs the toxins from the skin and leaves your skin glowing. Let the mask dry and wash off.
  • Now, to nourish the skin, you can take a nourishing face mask and apply a thick layer. Let it dry. Relax in the meantime. Wash off.
  • Follow with a toner or in my case aloevera gel. And, apply your favorite moisturizer or in my case a facial oil.
Body Polish
I have already shared the DIY on the blog here. I would strongly recommend you to use this. But, you are more than welcome to use a good face scrub if you own one. Also, after scrubbing, you can take the face towel and dip it in hot water and wash off your face with it (instead of steaming the face). This is just to open the pores.
Deep Cleansing Mask
Any clay mask is a deep cleansing mask. If you have one, that is more than enough. Otherwise, you can make one using multani mitti (fuller’s earth) and water itself. You need a mask which will only remove the toxins from the skin. The nourishment is the next step so don’t worry about it.
Recommended Masks:
Beauty Formulas Heat & Cleanse Clay Mask
Liz Earle Deep Cleansing Mask
Nourishing Mask
If you have a nourishing mask or a creamy or hydrating mask, that is good. Otherwise, you can make one using cocoa powder and honey. You can also add milk cream or fruit juices or banana.
Recommended Masks:
Biotique Bio Pistachio Ageless Nourishing and Revitalizing Face Pack
I would suggest any Biotique mask like milk cream or clove mask as well. They are all pretty nourishing.
So, that was my home DIY for face cleanup. Do you have any alternate ideas? Do Share!

Week 1 Updates {Bridal Files}

Swathy · October 3, 2013 · 13 Comments

So, the countdown has already begun. Its like around 6 weeks to the wedding so I thought I would do a weekly update post. Hell lot of things to do and run about but my history is even worse. I am person to whom the choice of clothes or beauty treatments does not really come on its own. Yeah, the irony seeing that I run an almost beauty blog 😀 😀 Anyways so let me just put down what all happened in the first week.
And, btw, since it is the shradh time, we have not yet started shopping. All that would probably take place in the second and third week of October and the rest remaining would be in November. The jewelery and some of the sarees are ready so I have to just get the blouses stitched. So, what all I have started is facials and a bit of others.
Body Treatments
I did ask for the bridal package but it had a lot of things which I was not interested in and I do like to keep a choice in getting different treatments from different places so I declined to take that. My choice of treatments is pretty limited. And, since I have only 3 weeks to the engagement, I do have to cram in a lot of things right now!

So, last Sunday, I got a cleanup for the first time in my life. Earlier, my trysts with parlors used to end with waxing and this all is kinda baffling. When I got the cleanup for the first time, I was literally hoping my face to glow like some one has placed a bulb under it. But, of course, nothing close happened. Btw, they have all kinds of cleanups (not facials) – gold, pearl, diamond??? Seriously? Its damn confusing for first timers!
My advise if you are a first timer – take the basic one and see how the services are and how it reacts on your skin. Also, get things planned quite in advance so that you have time to gauge the reactions on your skin and treat it accordingly. Don’t land up in the parlor at the nick of time and get a treatment for the first time in your life. I got the Shahnaz treatment which hardly lasted for 15 minutes. I felt it was a waste of money but everyone is saying that face cleanups only show difference when you get them done in regular intervals.
Anyways, since I have to get a facial trial way before my wedding, I am planning to get the facial this weekend so that there is 15 days of time minimum in between two of them, the second being right before engagement. Aah…also I got facial threading done and my face is looking so clean now 😀 And, I got my eyebrows also done, finally!! Nah, I really did not find any change in my face. Its just like it was 😐
Hair Treatment
I got a hair deep conditioning treatment with L’Oreal mythic range but honestly I did not like it so I am thinking of going to the nearby spa for hair and scalp massages. I am hoping that it would turn out well. Fingers crossed!
Weight Loss
Huh…this is the most difficult part. I am trying to skip almost everyday but of course you are tired or its too late or something or other excuse is always there. So, I am finding out what can I do.
I was thinking of swimming but chlorine is something I am not willing to risk right now and I do feel kinda lazy to go and swim as well. So, probably I will stick to skipping for now and get a yoga mat for regular surya namaskars.
Shopping
So, since it is shradh time, I can really not do any major shopping but mom said you can start with buying everyday things. I wanted to go to the market but of course it being me, I lazed around all day on 2nd October. But, I do have a tentative list of things I need.
I have also zeroed down on what foundation I would be buying. The shade is something I will go and check and then decide. I need a good eye liner and mascara which will stay long and have good pigmentation and also does not smudge. Can you suggest me some? Some of my friends were suggesting Maybelline. I am guessing the Colossal range.
Do drop in suggestions on mascara and eyeliner! And, will bring the week 2 updates soon enough.
