Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers. The earlier it gets detected, better are the chances of survival.

What should you know about Breast Cancer?

Causes of Breast Cancer

As with other cancers, the exact cause is not known. However, there are a few risk factors which might increase your chances of succumbing to this condition.

  1. Older women are more prone to development of breast cancer.
  2. Breast cancer and ovarian cancer may be inherited if you carry the particular genes, BRCA1, BRCA2 and TP53.
  3. Dense breast tissue may be associated with the risk of development of breast cancer. However, this is not confirmed yet. Breast density is always higher when young and it reduces as the female ages but breast cancer is more common in older women so the likelihood of this happening is less. However, dense tissue can hide the lumps or tumor from being detected in the mammogram.
  4. Being over-weight after menopause increases estrogen levels in the body which may cause breast cancer.
  5. Hormonal treatments or use of birth control pills can also lead to development of cancer.

The Book Corner Vol. 10 – Tenth Avatar by Dr. Kanchan Joshi

S&S Partners · March 24, 2018 · 2 Comments

tenth avatar, dr. kanchan joshi, book review

All the time that there is – past, present, future – is already here. We just interpret it linearly for our survival. There are multiple possible universes, and we create the universe we live in. Humans determine the outcome of Feynman’s probabilities and probability amplitude, and the force that we exert determines the outcome of events from the subatomic level up.

Tenth Avatar – The Plot

The above paragraph describes the book the best. We have two stories running in parallel to each other. On one hand, Hanuman is dealing with his existential crisis and waiting for the spiritual guide who will give meaning and direction to his life. And, on the other hand, Krish is trying to find the mathematical definition for existence.

According to Krish, the responsibility to make the world a better place to live exists with every individual. The goal is to make the individual realize the purpose of their life and the power that rests within them to exert the force which would collectively bring the change to do good and only good in the world. Evil can not reside if there is light and this light must be exuded by every single citizen of planet Earth.

Teamonk Global Speciality Teas

S&S Partners · March 8, 2018 · Leave a Comment

Which is your favorite beverage? As for me, I am an all rounder. I like my milk tea, herbal teas, infusion teas, coffee, hot cocoa, juices and wines. But, if asked which one I love the most, nothing better than sharing a cup of tea with my mom. It is more of a ritual than a beverage. There is something so familiar and zen-like with that hot glass in my hands and I take my own sweet time to drink it off.

Teamonk Global Speciality Teas

So, when Teamonk (absolutely love the name) approached me for a review of their teas, I was especially excited to try out their calming teas. I got six different varieties of infusions to try out. Different flavors each day, double yes!! Usually in the absence of my mom, I like to have infusion teas instead of the milk. Also, the best part of having infusion teas is that you do not get addicted to them the way you get addicted to tea or coffee.

How to infuse infusion teas?

I have learned a golden rule while preparing infusion tea long long back – never to boil water. Every infusion needs a different temperature of water to brew perfectly and the ideal is just when the water starts bubbling. The tea is sip-able at the temperature, leaves do not get burnt and leave a bitter after taste and it is hot enough to soothe the senses. Also, brewing time for each tea is different and depends on how strong you want your flavor. So, experiment!
