deFabulous reviver shampoo and conditioner product review

Updated on 28th December, 2015

Remember how I had been talking about cysteine and hair color for the last 6 months? If you are really thinking of getting it done, I would suggest you to wait for the hair diary coming right across in few days. I am having second thoughts about the entire procedure now that I am oiling my hair again and have been taking care of it like I used to. But, I have to say that these chemical treatments did make me discover some fabulous products and this range is one of them.

Earlier, Organic Surge was my favorite but deFabulous has replaced every other shampoo-conditioner duo in my bathroom. I do feel that organic surge makes my hair frizzy but I am not really sure about it since I was not diligently taking care of it either. Anyways, let us check out what I think about the product.

deFabulous Reviver Shampoo and Conditioner Product Review

So, before proceeding, I would like to mention that since I am not supposed to oil my hair, I really can NOT comment on whether the product removes oil or not. This does not hold true anymore. I did get my hair colored sometime in July but now the color has gone off. So, I finally oiled my hair first time in November after months. The shampoo cleans the scalp and hair really well.

In fact, the shampoo is very well able to get rid of oil and does not leave the hair dry after wash. The shampoo is really gentle on scalp and is an SLS-free product which makes it my favorite right now. I have also used Scahwarzkopf Color Freeze alternately after I got my hair colored but I prefer the deFabulous range to preserve color as well.

The shampoo is so gentle that you can use it without issues on alternate days as well, not daily since I do not recommend daily hair wash. For me, hair wash twice a week is enough unless I am attending a function or travelling. Both the shampoo and conditioner are extremely light in texture and can be washed off easily. My hair is definitely well-behaved whenever I use this duo. It is frizz-free and really soft, unbelievably so!

Ingredient List

I am so in love with the conditioner as well. It is light and does not leave my hair feeling heavy, washes off easily and makes my hair so soft and conditioned and shiny. Unfortunately, the conditioner works only in combination with the shampoo. If you use it with any other brand, the results are not the same.

Now, I do find the products are not travel-friendly. The pump design is great in bathroom but in toilet kit, it just leaks! Also, the product is expensive at Rs 975 each for shampoo and conditioner. But, they last you quite long so that more than makes up for the price and experience. At a time, you need 2-3 dollops of shampoo for one rinse for a mid-waist level hair which makes 5 dollops per hair wash considering you rinse your hair twice.

My Final Verdict

I love the products and would definitely recommend you to try it out whether your hair is chemically-processed or not.

Overview

Description. deFabulous Shampoo-Conditoner duo is SLS-free and gentle on hair. The products are creamy and moisturizing for hair and scalp both. This duo was recommended by my stylist after chemical processing. The duo comes with a pump design which is not travel-friendly.

Pros. Do not dry out the hair or scalp, removes oil without stripping off the hair and great for chemically-processed hair.

Cons. Expensive!

Price. Rs 975 each.

Availability. I think this might be an issue since I have not seen the products except for the Lakme salon. May be they are available at all of their branches.

Have you tried the products? Did you like them?

I always love SLS free products! This brand sounds good but I’m hearing it for the first time. Thanks for the review, Swati!

Btw, have you stopped oiling your hair?

I have been using this duo combination of shampoo n conditioner since a year n trust me it amazing what it does to ur hair, especially if u happen to color ur hair or go for other chemical treatments which damage ur hair. I too have not tried it after oiling my hair so no clue whether it is effective in removing oil.

hi Swati. so, I am also Swati 😀
anyways, this duo is amazing. right now, I am using kerastese products but they are bad and expensive than this one. I am seriously missing these products. and, it works pretty well on heavily oiled hair as well. no harshness or straw-like appearance. just the same results consistently. try it this time with a very thin layer of oil and you can see how it treats your hair.

    HI Swati,
I too got my hair coloured recently post which i was using the Moroccanoil Treatment Shampoo and Conditioner duo and it was excellent. But then i got the Cysteine treatment done and my stylist suggested switching to De fabulous reviver combo, as its best for post cysteine hair, so i did. ( Also you are right, its available only at Lakme, haven’t seen it anywhere else.)
I like the effects of this combo as well, but i find the fragrance however is a big compromise. After using the duo my hair smells like medicine or fevicol! and not the wonderful fragrance i got from Moroccanoil.
So was just wondering, if the fragrance is a issue for this combo for you as well, or did i get a bad batch of the product ?

I recently got a haircut at a Lakme Salon, and the stylist recommended this shampoo to me. I ordered it off of Amazon today and should receive it in a few days.
Thanks for your review! It really helped me in choosing this shampoo.
I have dry hair..can I expect it to help?
