When a product fails to live up to its expectations, inexpensive or not, we do get a little upset with the brand overall. Somehow, this happens with me on a regular basis with The Body Shop. Let me tell you why?
The Body Shop Wild Argan Oil
Price : Rs 1795 for 125ml
My Experience
First. The product has a long list of ingredients but I was disappointed to find silicones in it!
Secondly, I hate the packaging. It comes with a spray pump which dispenses just enough of product. For me, this pump did not work properly after day one. May be it is a batch issue. I have to open the pump and pour out the product. Another issue is that the product dries off around the cap which looks really bad in the long run.
Third, when I use it as a moisturizer, I did not feel it was enough to take care of my skin dryness in winters. I had to follow up with a body lotion.
Fourth. You can use it as a hair oil but presence of silicones was a deterrent for me. Silicones cause product buildup and are not easily washed off by regular shampoo.
Overall Verdict
Overall, I felt this product is way too expensive and does not really stand up to the expectations it creates. Instead, I would suggest pure argan oil from other brands.
The Body Shop Cocoa Butter Shower Creme
Price : Rs 425 for 250ml
My Experience
Let me start by saying it is a great shower gel. It cleanses well and smells like chocolate. But, it does not remove the need for a moisturizer. You have to use a moisturizer afterwards.
But, why is it a disappointment then?
Packaging. It comes in a fliptop bottle. But, the bottle is very thick and squeezing out the product during shower is a real pain. The product also being thick does not make the job easy. One dollop of shower gel is not enough for one shower so you need to repeat the process 2-3 times. I wish it came in a pump bottle but then the product is thick.
Overall Verdict
Go for the lighter shower gels instead.

Good post Swati. The argan oil had got me curious, but the fact that it was actually a blend rather than pure argan oil put me off because for that price, I would want something pure even if it comes in smaller quantity. As for the shower creme, those rarely work for me. So, that’s a no go too.
Seems like I made some wise calls here.
