Yesterday, I talked about what UV radiations actually are and I mentioned in a small point that the intensity of UVB varies from place to place. So, how do the places and altitudes affect the UV radiations.
UV levels increase about 4% for every 1,000 foot gain in altitude as a rule of thumb.
The reason is because of the thinner atmosphere as you go up and not because sun is closer to you because 1000 feet doesn’t really count when the distance is in light years, right?? So, consequently, you should use stronger sunblocks or sunscreens and reapply often to save the skin from damage. So, you live on hills or going there for a vacation, a sunscreen wouldn’t make your backpack too heavy!!!
Also, we were discussing about various surfaces. So, as a matter of fact, snow and ice are the biggest reflectors of sunlight!!! Snow or Ice can reflect up to 80% of the UV radiations. And, I remember I went at 12000 ft altitude without any sunblock and was having snow all around me 🙁 Well, that’s not recommended at all!!! Other surfaces like water also reflects sunlight so you should be covered up with sunscreens before you go to the beach.

Hi swati.ya places are very important for deciding for which sunscreen to apply.Whenever i went on holidays, mostly at beaches ,i never forget to apply sunscreen. Those are the only time i was a religious applier of sunscreen. And one more thing to consider is hair, cause it also became dry n rough if exposed to sun heavily. You should do a post about that too,may be a sun-safe way for hair.I usually apply sesame-oil(cold pressed) to my hair when i will be exposed to heavy sun.And i tried to stay in shade or wear a sturdy cotton scarf too.It worked.

yeah…thanks Monali for another post 🙂 how to take care of hair during vacation time….yup its very important and I am ashamed to say that I am not as religious as you 🙂 I went to Europe and stayed without sunscreen all day then this year I went to Kerela and was religious for a day but again fell into the same pattern….didn’t apply sunscreen on the last day….and yup hair goes really bad during such times…wearing a hat is a good option coz it protects the skin as well as hair!!! you know what you should write up a post about it…would you?

hey swati.you are a way better blogger than me when it comes to skin care.I just do blogging mainly to share about my crochet and amigurumi toys i made, and some times about organizing things too….So may be you should do a post about hair care during vacation…i will back you up if you find any problem. 😀

And about being religious,i am that only in case of hair.Because i love long hair and so from past 2 years i am growing it.
swati says
yeah even I love long hair but my hair is too fine and thin and its curly so doesn’t grow beyond a certain point…keeping it healthy only takes all my energies…I shall try to do the post vacation hair care also….and there is nothing like I am better….trust me 🙂
swati says
and btw, I forgot to mention that but I love the things you make!!! I can never ever make such things you know…I just tried my hand at origami and stopped it after I got on with the medium stuff….couldn’t attempt the difficult ones 🙁

Hey,swati,I am glad you like my creations. 😀 I think sometimes medium long hairs are better than long hair, they take less time form your everyday routine and can be styled prettily.I was wondering from a long time,i want to give you something i made,as a reminder of me.Believe it or not you are one of my favorite blogger n i consider you as my friend.i know we don’t even know each other, but i feel a sister-hood for you 🙂 so,if you want something i made just tell me,i will be more than happy to make it for you.
swati says

I am so honored that you actually like me so much that you would take up the trouble of making something for me….trust me your blog is full of so beautiful things that I covet everything thing on it 🙂 but I really don’t wanna put you though so much of trouble…I know making these things is intricate and takes lot of hard work…

Hi swati,Its ok i can imaging how hard it will be to balance work and blogging together.,i don’t mind making something for you, cause since the day i learned crochet,i am making many thing for friends according to their request(or rather you can say on demand).I love it,as i know they will remember me every time they saw it.So,if you would like,i want to make a doily for you?and dont worry,i will make it in my leisure so it wont be getting in my daily routine 🙂
swati says
well then, if you promise not to be very hard at work on that and make it at your own leisure then I would be really glad for the gift 🙂 btw if you don’t mind me asking, how much time does a usual doily take???
Monali Mishra says
hi,i will gladly obey your term.A doily usually take more time depending on design and thread used, say about 8-10 days if its around 14-16 inches big.As i will be working in only my leisure,i will finish your doily more slowly like in 15days.Is that alright?if you dont mind, which state you are living in now?
swati says
yeah sure…I am staying in Hyderabad right now but might be moving soon….not sure yet!!!
