Pomegranate Saffron Skin Toner {DIY}

Swathy · January 4, 2012 · 9 Comments

So, did you have fun in the guessing game held a day back? The two ingredients were: Saffron and dried Pomegranate peels. As you all know, Pomegranate has emerged as a potent anti-aging ingredient in the recent days. And, as orange peels are extremely rich in juices, similarly pomegranate peels are also valued for pomegranate extracts. So, we shall make the toner which will have anti-aging properties.
Ingredients:
  • Pomegranate peels (fresh or dried) (I had one Pomegranate peel)
  • Water
  • Saffron (optional) (The Saffron I used was also not of good quality)
Method:
  • Take half liter water and put the pomegranate peels in the water.
  • Let the water boil and then simmer till 1/4of the original quantity of water is left.
  • The liquid would be dark golden color by this time. Let the liquid cool.
  • The liquid would be red color by the time it cools off. Add a tea spoon of saffron strands to the liquid now and dissolve it nicely.
  • Strain the liquid and store in a spray bottle. Store in the refrigerator for longer shelf life.
How to use?
  • Use it as a toner after washing your face.
  • Mix with face packs and scrubs.
  • Mix a spray of the liquid with your mositurizer and apply it on your face.
  • This is something I haven’t tried but you can: Make ice cubes of this liquid and apply it after a long and tiring day. This is something I would do in summers.

hey Fatima…well, I am not really sure why it went black!!! may be there is a color difference if you use fresh peels…that might be the reason but I don’t think you went wrong anywhere!!!
there is one problem though and since I have not tried it with fresh peel, I am not very sure but the toner wouldn’t stay for long if made with fresh peels as it does with dried peels but that’s about shelf life.
And, regd the color, I think its ok, it just took that color after cooling off. Try storing it in the refrigerator and I think it will be fine.
And, regd. applying the juice, yes, you can do it every time. That’s not at all a problem. It doesn’t do anything bad to the skin if not good.
    hope this helps 🙂

hi Mamtha…first of all, to get chubby cheeks, check this post:
      http://perfectskincareforyou.blogspot.in/2012/01/how-to-lose-or-gain-chubby-cheeks.html

regarding complexion, its a whole process so I would suggest you to start with this every alternate day:
      http://perfectskincareforyou.blogspot.in/2012/04/my-top-5-home-remedies-this-summer-diy.html
use one of them every alternate day after cleansing your face at night. and, follow up with aloevera gel:
      http://perfectskincareforyou.blogspot.in/2012/03/rustic-art-aloevera-gel.html
if your skin is oily, this is enough but if your skin is dry, I would suggest you to use a drop or two of any good facial oil – almond is really good.
