Ponds White Beauty Daily Spot-less Lightening Cream SPF 20 PA++ Product Review

Swathy · June 27, 2012 · 73 Comments

Before starting the review, I want to reiterate that I do not support fairness products. I have reviewed this solely out of my curiosity and I wanted to see how much of the hi-flying claims it supports.

Price: Rs 249 for 50gms

Pros
cute packaging
evens out the skin tone

Cons
makes me sweat a lot sometimes
sticks to one place on my skin and refuses to spread smoothly
doesn’t fulfil any claims of fairness (it claims to make your skin fair genetically)
can’t use it as a sunscreen (this is not exactly a con)
less on moisturizing

My Experience

So, this is my second fairness product. I remember long time back, I had tried out the Fair n Lovely sachet which used to come with magazines. I had tried it just once but I remember the texture of the cream which was a little powdery and felt dry. This Ponds one has the same texture.

I like the packaging, though. But, taking enough amount of the product is a challenge when it is a tub packaging. I really wish they come with pump packing so that one pump or two are enough for one use. Take too much and the product clumps on the skin. The cream is a little thick and creamy and doesn’t spread easily at all.

In fact, blending was a huge headache for me in the starting but then, I used my regular method of applying moisturizer and it worked really well. But, even then, I have to make sure that I have just enough of the product to cover my face otherwise it does end up giving a white cast and a patchy look. And, after applying the product, you can see some of the product clumped up in the lines of your palms which is extremely annoying.

Ok, to speak good of the product, it evens out my skin beautifully and gives a very pinkish look to my face. The skin looks brightened and a little glowy. However, I did not see any fairness or any skin lightening in the long run. I don’t think it works on removing the tanning but I am not really sure of that. It is suited for skin prone to more oiliness as it gives a mattifying look.

I do not really rely on my moisturizers to give me sun protection (I do not advise it either) so the product having spf is redundant for me. However, I have seen that the glow does stay till the evening on some days. But, this moisturizer is not enough if you have dry skin. It tends to make my skin dry even in summers (my skin is combination towards dry).

But, I did sweat more with this product at times which was a shame. So, if you are looking for fairness, I would not recommend this. But, if you are looking for a product which evens out your skin temporarily, yes, you should definitely go for this.

Fun Fact: I asked my dad to use this and his face was also a little brighter and even after applying this product. But, even he faced issues while blending it!

PS: Product sent by brand.

Kama Brigandi Intense Hair Treatment {Product Review}

Swathy · April 24, 2012 · 48 Comments

Price: Rs 625 for 250ml
Ingredients
Pros
– makes my hair look shinier and feel softer
– little amount is enough to cover entire length of hair
– light in texture but extremely nourishing
Cons
– very expensive!!
– can weigh the hair down if applied in excess
My Experience
You would have seen the product mentioned in my monthly hair journal entries. I thought this is a good time to review it since I have been using the product on and off since more than 6 months. Its a strong smelled oil but that doesn’t really bother me though it offends my friend’s nose 😀 Yes, its strong. And, its a dark coloured oil as you can see in the pic.
I like the oil overall. It gives my hair shine and also makes my hair look darker. It has helped the hair texture to improve slowly. And, whenever I wash my hair after applying it, my hair looks shinier. And, the texture of my hair becomes softer. It gets washed off quickly and is a light enough oil to be used for oily scalp as well.
The product is definitely expensive. Yes, I would recommend the product and yes, I shall buy it again after my current stock of oils get over!!!
Have you used this hair oil?

Ponds Pure White Deep Cleansing Facial Foam Product Review

Swathy · October 17, 2011 · 6 Comments

I have been really excited about this product because of the carbon content in it and have been dying to try it out. And, of course, it wasn’t available in the stores for quite a long time so when I came across this unexpectedly in Spencers, I grabbed it up. So, lets check if it was really worth that excitement?

Price: Rs 75 for 50 gms

Ingredients

Packaging

It looks a cute and classy in its black packaging and draws attention. It has a flip top.

My Experience

Well, I would say it has been both good and bad. As you all know, I am troubled with a very moody skin which is oily and dry both at its will and wish so I need a product which will take care of both these things. And, since the weather these days is cooling off and getting drier, that’s definitely taking a toll on my skin. So, first time, I used the face wash, I saw that my face was neither dry nor stretchy and was completely clean. I could stay for a complete night without a moisturizer too. It did becomes stretchy after a while though but that’s not really any face wash’s fault. I am supposed to moisturize.

Now, the product is grayish in color and as with other face washes, it foams a lot in a very less product so you would really want to use less of the product every time coz a little more of the product does cause dryness. I noticed that. If I take a good amount of product, it does cause my skin to go dry and I have to moisturize immediately but if I stick with just a bit, my skin is very comfortable. And, regarding its ability to control the oiliness, I think oil doesn’t come back for an hour or so. But, that’s not something I really expected from this.

My Recommendation

I think it is worth a try, definitely!!!
