Eye Masks Recipes

Swathy · June 14, 2010 · 4 Comments

We have so many masks for face and hair. So, why not have one for eyes which takes care of all the problems of eyes like dark circles, wrinkles and puffy eyes and cleans the eye area gently.

Recipes:
  • For Wrinkles: 1 Egg white, 1/2 tablespoon honey, 1 capsule Vitamin E oil / 1 tablespoon pure coconut oil
  • For Dark Circles: 1 tablespoon spinach and lettuce juice, 1 tablespoon mint juice
  • For Dark Circles: 1 tablespoon carrot juice, 1 tablespoon tomato juice, 1 tablespoon cucumber juice
  • For Puffy Eyes: 1 tablespoon raw potato juice, 1/2 teaspoon honey
  • For Puffy Eyes: 1 tablespoon raw potato juice, 1 tablespoon cucumber juice
How to apply?
  • You can either apply the mask directly to the skin around the eyes and on the eyelids with the cotton pad and stay at one place without moving a muscle on face till the mask dries off. Keep your eyes closed.
  • Or, you can take a huge cotton pad and saturate it with the mask and put it on your eyes for around 20-30 minutes. Take a big size of cotton pad so that it covers your complete eye area. Stretch the cotton pad nicely on your eyes contours.
  • A tip: When treating yourself of puffy eyes, you can dip the cotton pad in the mask and keep them in the freezer for 5-10 minutes. After that, you can put it on your eyes. This would make the cotton pad act as a cold compress.
  • Do not, under any condition, apply anything mildly acidic on the skin around the eyes.

Beauty Uses of Beetroot

Swathy · June 13, 2010 · 246 Comments

Beetroot is one vegetable which you might hate or love to eat but it sure is good or rather great for your whole body. Since the vegetable is rich in iron, a daily glass of juice relieves you of anemia and helps building a strong immune system.

This vegetable is also a natural dye so mix the regular henna powder in beetroot juice for an auburn tinge in your hair. And, it is completely chemical free so your hair remains as healthy and beautiful as always.
Finally, using beetroot juice as a mask gives your complexion a pinkish tinge. So, next time you are whipping a clay mask or any fruit mask, be sure to include a little of beetroot juice or grated beetroot. The results would be visible clearly on a fair skin. Not only that, a regular usage of beetroot helps your skin become flawless as it feeds your skin iron and other vitamins through the pores. All the dark spots and blemishes are gone in a month if you use the mask 5-7 times a week.
You can even include a glass of beetroot juice in your daily diet. It surely will improve your skin and hair from inside as it carries all the vitamins and minerals necessary for beautiful skin and hair.

Spinach – Lettuce Juice for Luxurious Hair

Swathy · June 12, 2010 · 18 Comments

Nutrition is one of the most important necessities for having a luxurious head of hair. See this post for a detailed list of six foods which will not only help your hair grow but also cuts down hair loss and improves the quality and texture of your hair.
Along with these foods, you can accompany your meal with a drink which will help fulfilling your nutrition. Spinach – Lettuce Juice. Every day in the morning or evening, drink a glass of this drink.
How to make the drink?
Ingredients:
– 1 bunch spinach leaves
– 1 bunch lettuce (Salad Patta or Kasmisaag) leaves (can be substituted with cabbage)
– 1 lemon
– other spices
Method:
– Wash the leaves properly first.
– If using a juicer, slice the lemon and put it int he juicer along with the leaves.
– If using a mixi or a grinder, grind the leaves properly and put the mixture in a cheese cloth or a muslin sieve and squeeze the complete juice out. Squeeze a little lemon juice for a tangy flavor and you can add any spices if you feel like. I would suggest black pepper as it is also good for hair and gives a spicy flavor to the drink. You can make a mask of the left over leaves paste or use them as a garnish on your salad or any dish.
– Drink a whole glass of juice everyday.
