Lets Talk Anti-Aging with Nutrova!

Nutrova collagen + anti-oxidants nutritional supplement

We believe that the right nutrition, properly delivered, can dramatically improve our lives. Ensuring that we receive the right nutrition is an ongoing process, and not something that lasts only for a few days or weeks.

This is what Nutrova says. They have come up with a product for anti-aging skin care. No, it is not a cream, definitely. It is a nutritional supplement.

So, this product from Nutrova has collagen peptides and anti-oxidants for the old skin. Now, we already know that our collagen synthesis reduces after the 30-mark. In fact, a lot of us (our bodies) becomes useless after this mark and you realize You are growing old. And, this product delivers the necessary collagen along with vitamin C and other anti-oxidants to the cells of the skin to make your skin look healthy and young.

I think I have left you confused with too little and too much information. So let me start from the beginning.

What is Nutrova?

At Nutrova, we want to develop products that allow people to optimize their health through nutrition by developing quality products with a strong scientific basis.

We started product development work in late 2011. Our goal was to develop innovative nutrition products that allow individuals to take charge of their health. While we all realize that what we eat has an impact on our health and quality of life, the level of that impact is often underestimated. Nutrition plays a role in our health and development from the time we’re born all the way through our lives. A few examples to put it into context:

1. Studies have shown that pregnant women who consume high amounts of the omega 3 fat DHA tend to have infants with better visual and cognitive abilities (DHA is the major fat in the brain and retina).
2. Malnourishment during childhood, which is a major problem in India, impacts the height to which an individual will grow and a lack of nutrients often causes stunting. Over consumption of processed foods high in sugar and/or fat can also cause micronutrient deficiencies that impact growth and development.
3. Consuming large amounts of refined sugars is linked to everything from diabetes to heart disease.

We launched our first two products, Nutrova Functional Fibre and Nutrova Complete Omega 3 in early 2013. Functional Fibre showed a 20% reduction in cholesterol in a 60 patient clinical study carried out by a research organization. Complete Omega 3 is a vegan source of DHA which is suitable for vegetarians and Jains, communities that are the most likely to have a deficiency of DHA3. — Akshay Pai, Founder, Nutrova

Yes, they offer high-level nutritional supplements which can be taken without medical supervision.

So, what all do they offer?

They have 5 products as of now, more of which you can read on their website.

1. Collagen + Anti-oxidants for Healthy Skin
2. Anti-Oxidant Protection for Healthy Skin
3. Kerastrength for Healthy Hair (which I am totally interested in!)
4. Complete Omega 3 for General Wellness
5. Functional Fibre for General Wellness

I am currently trying out the Collagen + Anti-Oxidants nutritional supplement and shall be reviewing it soon. And, yes, do not forget to share which product intrigues you πŸ™‚

And, this prompted me to ask them a few questions regarding supplements.

How different are medical supplements from nutritional ones?

Well, I have always thought that nutritional supplements are not exactly very effective. But, seems like I was wrong.

Supplements are supplements, and a medicinal supplement is no different than a nutritional one. The government has laws in place that dictate what is classified as a food and what constitutes a drug. Broadly speaking, if we exceed the recommended daily allowance (RDA) of a nutrient, or change the dosage form around (injection vs. capsule), it needs approval from the drug authority (DCGI). If we are using ingredients and combinations with established safety profiles in doses within the RDA (as is the case with all Nutrova products), it is classified as a food product and is regulated by the FSSAI. — Akshay Pai, Founder, Nutrova

So, it looks like it is a good practice to take doctor’s advise even before taking them, just to be on the safer side. I would definitely recommend a doctor’s advise in case you are already on some medication or during pregnancy and nursing. But, more information on this in a later post!

How do these supplements affect the body? Any side-effects which can be expected? Or, in case, a case of overdose?

Our formulations are developed with a specific basis. Collagen+Antioxidants, for example, addresses the production of collagen and preventing its damage. Each ingredient has a very specific role to play, which is the outcome of our research and development. For example, collagen peptides are absorbed without further breakdown and incorporated directly into new collagen in the skin, vitamin C is an essential factor for the production of collagen, and lycopene prevents UV induced damage to collagen. If you would like additional information on the ingredients for this product in more detail, we’d be happy to send it across. — Akshay Pai, Founder, Nutrova

Are the products designed in such a way that all the ingredients facilitate each other’s absorption?

Absolutely. For example, Collagen synthesis doesn’t take place without vitamin C. The combination of antioxidants also has a rationale to it. — Akshay Pai, Founder, Nutrova

So far, I had badgered them with these many and many other questions which I shall discuss during the review. For now, I am quite intrigued by the products and would love to definitely give others as well a try! And, in the mean time, do a bit of research on supplements and how should they be supplemented with the daily diet. Ciao for now πŸ™‚

So, what do you say? Do they intrigue you as well? Do you like taking nutritional supplements or prefer to have a balanced meal only! Do share your views in the comments below.

ohkay, so did you do anything for the issue yet? let me know how it is for you and then we can think what to do. in the mean time, apply aloevera gel straight from the plant or ice cubes to take care of the burning sensation.

Good nutrition can really make all the difference when it comes to good health. You can exercise a lot but, unless you understand your diet it will not be good enough. I know that just having good health can really help with your eyes and vision.

Hi Natasha..I would suggest you to contact a dermatologist for it, especially if they are sinful. They might be cystic acne in which case you do need medical intervention.
