Vitamin C along with hyaluronic acid has become the latest trending skin care ingredient. Kiehl’s Vitamin C is one of the products in the market with 10% vitamin C concentration. Vitamin C is great at reducing pigmentation, induces collagen production, protects skin from sun rays, fight breakouts, exfoliating the skin and improving the hydration levels of skin to a certain extent. It is applied before sunscreen to boost the protection and in the night to improve skin quality. If used alone, Vitamin C serums are drying in nature so they do control oil production as well.
Never apply vitamin C serums on damp skin. Vitamin C gets neutralized on contact with water. It must be the first product to go on your skin.
Kiehl’s Vitamin C Powerful Strength Line Reducing Concentrate Serum
Price : Rs 5000 for 30ml
Yes, very expensive but it lasted for me at least 3-4 months easily using two pumps once a day and I am still left with one third of the bottle. Kiehl’s Vitamin C is yellowish in color and a bit drying to touch but I found that it can be used alone as well. It has hyaluronic acid so it hydrates as well. The feel of the serum is a little papery and does not require a lot of blending in. Apply in dots and just pat it all over. It makes my skin a little dewy but controls the oil production and shine to a little extent. Applying this makes it easy for me to use a little more sunscreen.
I usually use Kiehl’s Vitamin C in the night since I am not using sunscreen. I can not really comment on whether it removes wrinkles but it exfoliates the skin well when applied at night. Make sure to wash off your skin properly the next morning to remove the dead skin cells and reveal a new layer of skin. It hydrates the skin and gives a healthy plump look to the skin. And, a funny thing which I like with Kiehl’s is the warm sensation when it sinks into the skin.
Now whether it helps with pigmentation is a contentious issue. I pair the Kiehl’s Vitamin C serum with Estee Lauder ANR and Kiehls Midnight Recovery sometimes and follow up with moisturizer at night and sunscreen in the day (whenever I apply sunscreen) and all of them may be helping with wrinkles and dark spots and other skin issues. But, overall, the result is a healthy glowing skin, if it helps. So, I can not bring it down to a single product.
Overall, I like the product but it is definitely expensive. I will probably skip this for now and aim to save for the Skinceuticals C E ferulic acid serum which is double the price but apparently the best in the market. Have you used Kiehl’s Vitamin C? What is your opinion about the product? Are you looking forward to buying it and using it?

I have heard that this is a stable form of Vitamin C to use in your skin care. It sounds good but a bit of higher priced side.

hey Sangeeta. yeah, they do say thhis is stabilized form of vitamin C which apparently keeps on delivering the vitamin continuously. not sure how true that would be but surely it does show some difference. yeah, it is expensive but there are none which are available at a lesser price. should check out capsules from Dr. reddy’s though. heard they are back in the market.
